Apologies if this has already been posted and I missed it.

Finally it feels as though the mainstream press are picking this up and exposing people like McKinnon for what they are....

Good balanced article - yay!

This is another well balanced article and the comments seem like people are getting it.
www.express.co.uk/celebrity-news/1097598/sharron-davies-tran-cyclist-rachel-mckinnon-web-war

From the article Sharon is quoted as:

"Honestly, it breaks my heart, it really does. And the BBC are giving her so much air time. It was hard for me to sit there and listen to her."

Olympic star Holmes had joined Davies in speaking out against transgender athletes being allowed to compete in women's sport.

Now Davies wants to start a petition to prevent people born male, but who have chosen to change their gender, being allowed to compete in female sporting events.

She is reportedly set to ask for a meeting with sports minister Mims Davies over the issue. Davies, 56, added: "The potential for women's sport to be devastated is extraordinary. The young athletes competing are heartbroken about this but they are all too scared to come out and say something."

kesstrel · 11/03/2019 07:49

it is repellent to witness what could be mutually beneficial discourse hijacked by hateful invective.

"Repellent". Really forthright, excellent. The theme of the whole piece is about the viciousness coming from the transgender side, and how wrong it is. I wonder if there will be more opinion writers pointing this up now? I suspect this will be an important step in getting people to start thinking about where the rest of the agenda is coming from.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 11/03/2019 08:01

I just wish more male athletes were speaking out about this issue. It is so good however to see it out there in the media. Again (I'm never happy!) it's a shame it took the issue of sports for people to "get it" when we have been speaking up about women's safety in refuges, prisons, toilets etc for so long.

And I would bloody love it if the mainstream press showed McKinnon's tweets, especially the STFU transphobes.

RM is a complete has been, spouting utter shite...they have done wonders for the cause, I can’t thank them enough!

GirlDownUnder · 11/03/2019 08:15

Hahahahaha moan away WeBuilt cos I think Sharron has been listening - she’s (Twitter) asking questions about changing rooms, and school policies so your ‘complaints’ are being heard Brew

GirlDownUnder · 11/03/2019 08:17

And yes Happy RM is a one (wo)man Sherpa team carrying us all to the height of Peak Trans Grin

hackmum · 11/03/2019 08:31

Both the Sky article and the Express one are very good. I'm so pleased that Sharron Davies is being so articulate and forthright about this. She's not mincing her words, but she's not being aggressive either. Just the kind of spokeswoman we need.

Meanwhile, where is Gary Lineker? Not like him to miss an opportunity to gob off about something.

boatyardblues · 11/03/2019 08:37

Thank you Sharron for sticking to your guns. A generation of young female athletes will thank you, as do I.

WeBuilt great nickname Smile

CosmicCanary · 11/03/2019 08:41

Daley Thompson has sided with Sharron, Martina & Holmes.
The comments towards him are less vicious and so far no demands against his sponsors or for him to be sacked...

I love Davies's turn of phrase. Really highlights the very think transwomen like MK aspire for and fail to gain...

Davies said She is really not being very nice. - acknowldeging preferred pronouns, whilst also discussing the effects of testosterone and asking for the IoC to do the science Smile

tobee · 11/03/2019 11:21

Just read the article on the Sky news app.

Was waiting with bated breath for the talk of hatred coming from the other side as well. But it didn't come. Hooray!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 11/03/2019 11:24

'RM is a complete has been, spouting utter shite...'

A never-was rather than a has been, surely?

TurboTeddy · 11/03/2019 12:31

Wow this is very interesting. Most articles I've read attempt to paint a picture of both sides of the debate employing hateful rhetoric but this one clearly lays the responsibility at the door of the aggressive TRA's, which is very refreshing. It's helped by the fact that the amazing sportswomen raising awareness about the issue have remained respectful and dignified throughout whilst still sticking to their guns. I thinks it's known as playing the ball and not the man! Grin

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 11/03/2019 16:02

I think that article is really good.
The hatred towards us that don't tow the line is constant.

Here you have some daft American putting forward their data on te*fs. They've gathered this from hand checking over 10,000 twitter accounts before blocking.

99% are white.

90% follow misogynist
90% follow anti LGBT
50% follow nazis
10% are anti vaccination

Nearly 5 thousand people are stupid enough to believe this random nonsense. The person didn't produce a shred of evidence.

I'd say it was 100% bullshit

This made me laugh too

What about women's rights? I'm guessing they are holding their hands up to hate crimes against us
