Just seen that RM is tweeting about appearing on R4 at 5 today.

OP posts:

I self-ID as Galactic Emporer so you'd better start bowing.

Courday · 06/03/2019 16:56

I wish they would not give this homophobic individual any airtime.

Whatisthisfuckery · 06/03/2019 17:02

RM is becoming quite the poster boy for the beeb. I’m sure a very manly sounding person aggressively insisting they should be allowed to compete with females in the female sports will have everybody nodding in agreement. Yes of course Rach is a woman, that’s why they have to keep trying to convince everyone else. Don’t you remember Sharon Davis, and Paula Radcliffe, and Sally Gunnel, and Nicola Adams, and all the other female athletes having to constantly and aggressively insist on being entered into the female category of their respective sports...?

nauticant · 06/03/2019 17:03

I think they're useful to the GC cause but they should only be given a platform if they're being interviewed with someone who knows about the subject.

Overall though their continually pushing for prominence often looks like an exercise in self-(mental)harm.

OldCrone · 06/03/2019 17:04

From that Sarah Vine article:

One of the central tenets of feminist dogma is that women and men are the same. Not just in terms of equal rights, but capabilities...If women are as fast/strong/physically resilient as men, why does it matter if a female athlete comes up against an opponent who was once a man?

Have any feminists actually said that 'men and women are the same'? This isn't the first time I've seen an anti-feminist say this, but I wasn't aware of this being 'one of the central tenets of feminist dogma'.

We clearly aren't physically the same as men (otherwise we'd be men, not women), so why have so many people decided this is what feminists are saying?

nauticant · 06/03/2019 17:06

RM is becoming quite the poster boy for the beeb.

If the Beeb continue as they are, they will be inviting a well-founded complaint about partisan presentation of the facts around this particular issue. A divisive issue where one particular person often appears and can insist they're not up against anyone holding a contrary opinion? In what other contexts would that be allowed?

MsMcWoodle · 06/03/2019 17:08

FFS- I already phoned the BBC today to complain about their one sided 'interview' about women's sport this morning.
If they have another one sided debate - here is the complaint number
03700 100 222.

merrymouse · 06/03/2019 17:26

No scientist s in the UK ?

Exactly

Why are they asking McKinnon again?

I'm really happy to listen to opposing views, but wouldn't we all learn more if they at least interviewed somebody prepared to state the case for the IOC guidelines or explain how they came about - maybe somebody who knows about UK law and policy? Has it dawned on the BBC yet that McKinnnon thinks there should be no sex segregation at all?

Wouldn't it be better to at least pretend to have a proper discussion?

Or is women's sport just a novelty topic?

MillytantForceit · 06/03/2019 17:36

No sign of this.

McFibber only said they were being interviewed at 1700 gmt, not that it would go out on a particular programme.

This could be for The World Tonight at 2200 or for some current affairs magazine show such as File on 4 or Inside Science.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 06/03/2019 17:43

Have any feminists actually said that 'men and women are the same'?

I've never seen feminist protest about women's races, insisting that they should run with the men instead. Maybe Sarah vine knows different.

It's a way to blame women for men's actions. Men want to make sport mixed sex, not women.

EverardDigby · 06/03/2019 17:44

They seem terribly insecure with their boast about money.

Iused2BanOptimist · 06/03/2019 17:49

RM has been busy on twitter the last couple of hours so not sure when an interview might have been fitted in. Hmm

MillytantForceit · 06/03/2019 17:51

There is a thrty minute gap in the tweets.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 06/03/2019 18:25

RM wasn't on PM this evening. Surely RM was not being economical with the truth? That wouldn't be good - especially from the author of :
Sure the Emperor Has No Clothes, But You Shouldn't Say That, Philosophia (I kid you not) and other lengthy tomes Grin

SlipperyLizard · 06/03/2019 18:38

Absolutely, I’ve seen lots of people saying “you feminists wanted equality etc so stop complaining” ie all this is women’s fault. I’ve never heard any woman claim that men and women are the same in all respects, let alone a feminist (would rather go against the idea of oppression on the basis of our sex if it was us who thought everyone was the same).

Alongside the comment “but why aren’t the feminists speaking up about this?”, like they haven’t been ignored and sidelined by the media for years.

NotTerfNorCis · 06/03/2019 18:41

The physical difference is the reason for women's second class status in almost every society in history.

This is why trans ideology, which tries to deny the physical difference and appears to promote a cognitive one, is so regressive and dangerous.

OldCrone · 06/03/2019 19:56

Sure the Emperor Has No Clothes, But You Shouldn't Say That, Philosophia (I kid you not)

I didn't believe that, so I googled.

Sure the Emperor Has No Clothes, But You Shouldn't Say That, Philosophia

Paul Simard Smith must have written that for a joke surely

welshgendercrit · 06/03/2019 21:14

Been in a rabbit hole looking at RM's Twitter. Saw someone earlier commenting how few likes and replies the tweets get and it's true. There is a lot of tweeting going on though. Ranting, mostly.

Since RM has close to 75K people on their blocklist, it's not surprising they don't get much response.

MillytantForceit · 06/03/2019 21:17

Been in a rabbit hole looking at RM's Twitter.

Ah yes. The Echo Chamber of Wank.

MilletSentToForceIt · 07/03/2019 08:50

RMcK recorded interview just been played on Today BBC R4 08.35 ish. They then had Sharron Davis on refuting it all, and doing a damn good job.

MilletSentToForceIt · 07/03/2019 08:52
  • Davies
Tap335 · 07/03/2019 08:52

Still, I thought they were giving RMcK a much easier time than SD. RMcK "didn't seek the spotlight" - ludicrous!

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/03/2019 08:57

Get Debbie! Get Miranda! Get Ffion!

Why do I keep hearing mcK on the radio?!!

Datun · 07/03/2019 09:02

Good Lord, Mckinnon came across as unhinged.

Deciding that he and Sharron look alike?
