Lots of people wanting Transwomen to compete in Women’s sports - Ellis Cashman and Rachel McKinnon etc - they keep making the point there is no difference between the physicality of Male and Female - with particular reference to 6 foot women and 5 foot men - Every week two women are murdered by a current or ex partner normally with their bare hands - surely if male and female physiology is largely the same - surely there’ll be lots of examples of women killing men with their bare hands - or at the very least when your husband attacks you - in 50% of cars it will him who ends up in hospital with a black eye and broken jaw

50% of cases not cars ...

Yep, and you'd expect 50% of the victims of "they loved BDSM and it went wrong and they died" to be male also.

They're not.

It is always women who are beaten to death or strangled by a male perpetrator.

Datun · 04/03/2019 11:17

I know. There is no difference between it and satire.

The reason we have sexism is because women don't try hard enough 🤣

Popchyk · 04/03/2019 11:19

Yeah, women really don't try hard enough to avoid violence, sexual assault and murder at the hands of men.

If only they would take up violence, sexual assault and murder themselves.

Society would be much the better for it.

HerFemaleness · 04/03/2019 11:31

Which sport would 5ft men and 6ft women be taking part in together?

lucasthecat · 04/03/2019 11:40

Well - assuming your question is in good faith -every single sport - if Transwomen get to compete in Women’s sport - although the reality will be taller Male born Transwomen competing against smaller and lighter Women. TRAs use the fact some women are taller than some men negates the need for sex segregation of sport

I was wondering last night whether sexism would still exist in a world where men and women were of equal size, strength, shape etc.

It was in good faith. I'm struggling to understand why, in a discussion about sport, it's relevant to bring up short men and tall women. Not a criticism of your OP, but of Cashman and McKinnon's argument.

Sports tend to be self-selecting for particular body types, so a sport which had a lot of tall women would be that way because height gave an advantage. So yes, short men could be at a disadvantage to women in that particular sport, whatever it is. I don't see how this translates to ''there are no physical advantages to the male body''. It's such a bizarre leap of logic, I can't follow it.

PetuniaPetunia · 04/03/2019 12:37

Wonder if there'll ever be any 6ft men in women's gymnastics.

PetuniaPetunia · 04/03/2019 12:38

Or men of any height

SardineQueenII · 04/03/2019 12:41

Yes this is a worry

Women and girls could fight men off if they wanted according to the trans sports statement

We therefore chose not to
We don't really want to

Which also makes sense if you believe that women and girls are a set of sexist steteotypes
We are weak because of ladybrains

I worry the impact of this on real life VAWG

SardineQueenII · 04/03/2019 12:42

Why didn't you fight him off

Has been used as evidence that women and girls 'wanted it' forever.

Some countries it was (is?) codified in law.

lucasthecat · 04/03/2019 12:42

Thanks for answering and clarifying - I think tall women and small men are being brought up by McKiinnon et al - to muddy the waters - in the same way DSD are dragged against their will into the trans debate. A 6 foot woman does not equal a 6 foot man - and it is disingenuous to say they do - The reason I highlighted the outcome of male on female violence - is that the correlation between who ends up injured or dead is birth sex not height or weight -

Percentile charts. Just get out the percentile charts. The spread of distribution for height and weight shows clearly, while some men will be outliers and so will some women, the common norms of distribution are obvious. And not equal.

This is desperate pushing of 'alternative facts'. I get that reality isn't what they want, but mental health is defined by capacity to cope with reality. The state of your mental health as defined by trying to shout, bully and gaslight reality into fitting your preferred narrative..... a bit worrying.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 04/03/2019 12:53

Presumably we're going to now have to burn the tape measures and scales as well as the dictionaries.

Sport -Male bodies = Female bodies - Domestic violence
lucasthecat · 04/03/2019 13:11

It goes beyond the height charts - A male born individual of the same height as someone born female - has huge advantages in nearly every sport - Muscles, Skeleton, Heart, lung capacity etc
