Waving to all those at WPUK Norwich tonight

I know it's really busy here right now, in a good way, as there's so much going on.

Forgive me if there's already a thread about this, but I just wanted to wave to say hi to all those at WPUK Norwich tonight as I can't see a prominent thread about it, and it's always good to hear about these meetings happening offline, in real life, discussing important issues.

twitter.com/hashtag/WPUKNorwich?src=hash For those wanting to read along in real time. Thanks in particular to DrEm for live tweeting. Smile

Awesome line up and I wished I could have gone, wanted to see Hibo speak. Tweets have been great by Dr Em.

Sounded a little contentious which isn't always bad. (Not sure whether it was just an impression from the tweets)

Open debate is what has been sadly lacking for so long and has lead to the current toxic situation.
Trans activists refusing to debate yet trying to silence all opposition is never going to end well for anyone.

ShowOfHands · 25/02/2019 22:45

I was there tonight.

Some tension but I think it was ultimately respectful. Found it very moving in parts and had some good conversations with women around me.

And met Glinner!

NotTerfNorCis · 25/02/2019 22:49

Wow, didn't know this was happening. Good on the Quakers for hosting feminists again.

Melroses · 25/02/2019 22:53

And met Glinner! Envy

FeminismandWomensFights · 26/02/2019 00:18

Will they be putting up videos of the WPUK speakers at some point? Would be great to be able to watch those. Hope the event went really well!

IDoN0tCare · 26/02/2019 00:26

Good on the Quakers for hosting feminists again.

Yup. A peaceful religious group has more balls than a whole football club. Unbelievable.

PencilsInSpace · 26/02/2019 08:00

Sounds like it was a good meeting. TRAs coming in to argue their points rather than just shouting outside. That's progress.

Julie Bremner of Norwich Pride is still very very cross this morning that Karen Ingala Smith tweeted a pic of huge airport queues and pretended it was people arriving for the meeting. Fake news! Grin

ShowOfHands · 26/02/2019 08:03

It was filmed and will be available in due course.

ShowOfHands · 26/02/2019 08:04

It was Julie Bremner who claimed the leaflet she was waving around was a WPUK leaflet. Julie Bremner was wrong.

Melroses · 26/02/2019 08:23

Not above faking their own news then Hmm

The airport photos and the pictures of crowds in the Albert hall are hilarious. There is a lack of sense of perspective as well as humour Grin

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 26/02/2019 08:33

Well done to all concerned. Saw the photo and really wished I was there!

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 26/02/2019 08:34

TRAs setting the fire alarm off though, what are they? 11?

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 26/02/2019 08:40

The hashtag links are excellent! Thank you!

Melroses · 26/02/2019 08:59

Ha ha the desperation to tell everyone the queues are Russian is hilarious. Who knew! Grin

If you want a laugh, just go through the replies on this:

An ideological movement having no sense of humour is a bit of a red flag.
