Not sure I am posting in the right place/topic but is there a thread about this already?
It looks like it is an event empowering women & encouraging careers in tech but a quick look at Twitter and I'm not so sure. Hashtag is #CFIGender

It's a project of the Leverhulme Institute for the Future of Intelligence.

I don't think the conference was a recruitment event. It looked (from the twitter feed) more like an academic meeting with researchers and students discussing pertinent problems in the area of AI and gender.

Reading the bumpf on it it the project seems to be a much needed attempt to highlight the way artificial intelligence can increase or promulgate bias and possibly introduce new bias both through the ways it is developed at a technical level (e.g. by having it train using already biased data sets) and through the focus of the companies and institutions who develop it (so what problems they try to get it to solve, etc.).

Trans issues are going to come up because it's trendy right now, because there are quite a few transwomen in tech and because it provides an interesting way of looking at the issues that are raised. This may or may be a problem. It could potentially be beneficial as it could help show up assumptions.

The project does seem to be very much about gender though and not sex. Which for the most part is appropriate for AI. Whether they appropriately consider the impact of sex on gender (and gender on sex classes) isn't something I can get any kind of impression of from the Twitter feed or project website.

Seems to be some sort of charter for supporting woman in tech?
#techshecan

They are bizarrely just using the words "women" and "girls"

Which is nice

Tech She Can is a Pricewaterhousecooprs initiative isn't it?
