Withdrawal of funding

Help! I remember reading about a Scottish charity for women which had its charitable funding withdrawn for not being inclusive of men/trans women. From memory it was a shelter for women escaping domestic abuse.

I want to use it as an example in a letter I am writing to my MP but, as is obvious from the above (!) I am sketchy on the details. Have googled but no luck. Does anyone have a link/details? Many thanks

It was Glasgow and Clyde rape crisis and they had their Children in Need funding withdrawn. G&C rape crisis said it was because they weren't inclusive of men being a women's service bu CiN later denied it

That’s really helpful- thanks v much.

Looking for examples to show why the Rqualities Act “protections” are not sufficient and that it’s totally unreasonable to start from a “TWAW” position and expect individuals/organisations to decide if there are sufficient grounds to deviate from that position. Wanted to show that the risk of losing funding might mean they are too nervous to challenge people who are abusing the legislation.

They ended up getting emergency funding by the Scottish government funds for Glasgow rape crisis group [[http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-45137638]]

This document from a coalition of women’s organisations says most services are trans inclusive (eg phone line support) but highlights rape services as needing to be able to remain sex segregated

Aargh - what is happening? Anyway it was 10 August 2018 and was headlined emergency funds for rape crisis centre. Sounds like a good letter.

Kezia Dugdale asked in Scottish Parliament if orgs had to be inclusive to receive funding - the link was on here somewhere - hopefully someone has it.

Kezia's PQ is on page 5:
