Ok, so "discuss" may not be the right word, but they mentioned self-identity in the context of prisons and changing rooms and sounded very um terfy.
What are the odds they face a backlash?

The odds are greater that GC women will be blamed because these men happen to agree with us.

PerspicaciaTick · 01/02/2019 17:41

You are probably right, although they don't have a great track record of listening to women so aren't obvious allies of GC women.

Jeremy Clarkson seems to upset everybody at some point or another. It's entirely reasonable that the trans get their turn at being mad with him. Grin

Joking aside I don't know what they said but I'm guessing it just falls under the realms of common sense. Most people think self ID is a bad idea.

AspieAndProud · 01/02/2019 18:23

They’re pretty much bulletproof.

There a lesson here about never apologising.

And getting a good agent.

TowelNumber42 · 01/02/2019 18:32

Ooh, is that why the grauniad had an article today about Grand Tour having crossed a line too far?

MrsFogi · 01/02/2019 18:35

Now I'm thinking about "car programmes" I am willing to wager that the first permanent "female" host of Top Gear (original one) will someone born male.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 01/02/2019 18:36

God it took me a while to realise it wasn’t Teresa May doing a Brexit tour. I was wracking my brains as to who Clarkspn Hammond was. 🤦🏼‍♀️

VeryLittleOwl · 01/02/2019 20:41

MrsFogi - hearteningly, Top Gear's had quite a few female presenters in the pre-Clarkson/Hammond/May era, starting with Angela Rippon in the 1970s and ending with Vicki Butler-Henderson from 1997-2001. I'm sad they don't make more use of Sabine Schmitz in the current incarnation.

NotTerfNorCis · 01/02/2019 20:48

There was an article in the Guardian the other day accusing Top Gear of homophobia. www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/jan/31/lazy-homophobia-the-grand-tour-jeremy-clarkson-amazon

SoloClarinet · 01/02/2019 21:22

Ii is highly likely that Mr Clarke is genuinely and sincerely both homophobic and transphobic.
