Walking to a meeting, wrapped up in boots and overcoat a man walked passed me and uttered "you slut". He was mid 50s - I feel sorry for him and the next women he meets on his way today.

What a strange world we live in.

Having had a look at a few facts and figures, it seems being 19 is a fairly dangerous time for both sexes and I suspect most of the violence is peer driven.

So yes, hassle, violent, physical , or anything else will logically diminish after that age.

Is it because men go after the easier pickings because they are cowards? There is something in that statement I find disquieting. and I've written several posts and deleted them trying to get that disquiet into words.

Cowardice would suggest a fear, and I just don't get that feeling, the nearest I can get is lazy entitlement and lack of empathy.
