Has anyone else listened to Jon Ronson’s new podcast on the suicide of porn star August Ames? It’s only available on Audible at the moment but will be released wider in a few months.
His last podcast, The Butterfly Effect, left me conflicted- I find porn repulsive and felt he didn’t really dig enough into the damage being done by the abundance of free porn. But I think with this latest podcast he’s coming around to an anti-porn view, August was an incredibly vulnerable young woman who fell into the vipers nest of the porn world. It also touches on the increasingly violent nature of porn.
It’s a heartbreaking listen and makes me want to set up a lovely country retreat for young female porn stars, well away from the shitty men that they work/live with.
