Ugh. The bear hug can sometimes be hard to avoid socially without looking unfriendly and shrieky, so it's good to have the 'bad cold' tip. Bad as it is, as some kind of socially sanctioned assault, it comes nowhere near playing with hair.

Before anyone jumps in, obviously it's perfectly OK to be unfriendly and shrieky if someone tries to grab you. But not so much when you're doing politics in public.

I've seen Juncker, when in his cups, lightly smacking various male dignitaries on the cheeks.
