Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Why is gender/sex becoming ever more complicated.

I just don’t get it. For millennia there has been a clear divide between men and women, how they are expected to act, what they can and can’t do, say and wear according to their sex/gender/whatever because rulez.

Over the last century it really started going in the right direction, ok we weren’t actually as close as we ideally should be to actual equality but there was definite progress. A lot of attitudes started shifting and people were fighting for the right to just be them and have the same opportunities regardless of sex. Surely this is what needs to keep happening. Keep pushing for the right to look how you want, dress how you want, be attracted to who you want and do whatever job/hobby you want (based on skill rather than sex) without wondering if this makes you a man, woman or whatever.

Surely all these bloody labels and boxes being created or reinforced with new rules to fit people into are a huge step back not forwards. Would it not be better to save the distinction of being a man or woman for the useful stuff like sex based medical needs and necessary sex segregated spaces and choose whatever name, clothes, lifestyle based on what you like without worrying what box it fits into and carry on fighting to be treated like equal humans.

Indeed, they are.

Gender ideology is the current backlash to feminism.

It’s really playing on my mind because I’ve always been a live and let live person. Pretty much all the transwomen I had ever met were accepted by women as women before all this kicked off and I never met any transmen. Most people I know have thought the same but since it turned into a massive agenda it’s divided everyone.

There’s the strictly pro the trans cause regardless of the affects on women and the kids who have no idea who they are yet. The strictly against and assuming all trans people are the enemy. The aggressive trans people who will see no other view than their own and don’t actually give a shiny shit about the people born into the sex they identify as and then there’s the trans people who genuinely just wanted to fit in and get on with life but are now scared of being branded traitors, being painted as aggressive which they are not and not being accepted by bloody anybody. There’s also a considerable number of people who are totally ignorant to everything that’s going on with it all because they think it doesn’t affect them, which it may very well do in the future especially if they have kids.

Literally the only people benefitting from all the stereotyping and people fighting against each other are the people who perpetuate the stereotypes and see women as lesser in the first place. I can see why they encourage it all, what I can’t see is why decent people are sucked in by it and can’t see the effects.

There are huge profits to be made from gender ideology. (Medical industy).
There are huge advantages to men in gender ideology (identify as a woman and I get to break their world records and assert dominance over them and access their spaces)
Gender ideology reinforces gender stereotypes that exist to benefit male supremacy.

To be fair it hasn't gotten any more complicated.
I'm surprised this hasn't happened sooner. What we are living through is simply a rapidly accelerated continuation of what has always been.
