I am despairing at the world today

Maybe I just need to get off MN it perhaps it because I am in my 30s and had a child so I am being exposed to more patriarchy. I had read a thread today where lots of posters say it is fine that a medical professional performed an intimate procedure without consent and another were a Dad thinks he has a say over the body of his adult female daughter. Then I watch fucking Octonoughts on ceebies and all the main characters are male with only a couple of female female side characters.

I think over the last few months my eyes have been opened to what is happened in the world. A couple of months ago I was watching a back in time in the factory program and disappearing with how little has actually changed.

I sympathise. A couple of years ago I thought equality was pretty much done and dusted, and dear God what a lie that is. Once you see it you see it everywhere, in plain sight.

On the other hand, this means that ordinary women like you and me are spotting this, getting really pissed off about it, writing posts like yours and talking to other women about it, and more and more of us are catching on. The next wave of feminism when it comes is going to be really powerful stuff.

Once your eyes are opened there's no going back. Bit like the matrix.

You get a bit angry for a while, bit ranty etc. Phases of despair. Read a bit. Over addiction to mn.

Then you come out the other side and get kick ass good at taking down sexism when you see it.
