Can anyone recommend any books, reading material ect? I'm guilty of not taking an interest because it doesn't effect me but would like to expand my understanding.

You certainly won't be improving your mind by reading about the porn industry! However there have recently been a few documentaries on 5 about the sex industry which included porn and Louis Theroux has done documentaries on it, I watched a bit on Netflix.

Thanks for the suggestions. I noticed a lot if not all porn threads have the same arguments circulating so just wanted to learn more about how it affects women in the industry

I want to read this book:

I too feel like I want to understand this more, but I can't quite bring myself to read it yet.

Yea I know it's bad but don't know how bad. Ignorance really is bliss

Kat Banyard's Pimp State is good generally on commercial sexual exploitation.

Overview of mix of prostitution and porn: Legalized Prostitution In Germany Looks Like A Living Nightmare

There are also porn theaters where men can find prostituted women, “tea clubs” (which mainly serve Turkish and Arab men and have mainly Bulgarian and Romanian women working there), your regular escorts, and, of course, online prostitution. Most people are surprised to learn that micro-brothels exist right in their own neighborhood, because they lack the visibility of mega-brothels.
Then there’s the organized crime factor. Organized crime groups like the Hells Angels, Mongols, Bandidos, United Tribuns, etc. control prostitution and red light districts in various German cities. Hamburg and Frankfurt, for example, are in the hands of the Hells Angels, whereas the United Tribuns control prostitution in Stuttgart and Villingen-Schwenningen. Despite that reality, popular discourse around legalization tends to focus on women’s “free choice” instead of the heavy involvement of organized crime in the industry. Shouldn’t we be talking about the way in which prostitution in Germany is “underground?”

because mobile phones with cameras and high-speed internet is so commonplace, there are increasing amounts of amateur porn on the internet now. both available for free plus there are sites which allows amateurs to sell their own content

so now amateurs can make money from making porn without having any involvement with porn studios. do you reckon this is this good or bad?

Moominfan · 17/12/2018 08:41

I think it's bad, creation of porn open to anyone without any kind of regulation Sad
