We completely do. Not only do we have doublethink, we also have constant surveillance (Hello Huawei!). However, I do think that this world is a lot more palatable than Orwell's, though that in itself is rather insidious. We are half 1984 and half Brave New World.

Living in ‘Blairite times’ just doesn’t sound the same.

The problems of ownership and control in electronic media and the loss of history have been raised since their inception. Tim Berners-Lee is finally speaking out against it. If he'd opened his mouth ten years ago we might have stood a chance.
I hadn't realised how many other groups were founded in or nurtured by the women's movement. There is so much conspiring at the moment to destroy everything that is positive, everything that stands in the way of the making of money for money's sake. Everything seems to be pointing towards ever more subtle methods of total social control. We must dissent.

However he's still on FB and I've seen that he's now posted the article on Medium for the third time, with all contentious material redacted.
