Australian pro-life politician pulls transgender stunt

This Buzzfeed article just popped up on my feed, have done a bit of googling but can’t find any other coverage of the story.

Basically some full of himself Australian politician has decided he’s going to declare his gender is female so he can’t be called out by pro-choice opponents. Apparently it’s not the first time he’s taken the piss out of the trans debate either.

Hilariously, all the pronouns on his Wikipedia page have already been changed to she, her etc.

I think he’s pro-life rather than pro-choice.

In any event, I can’t see much difference between this and Pips Bunce, and he wins awards!

I’m being slightly facetious, of course, but I struggle to worry about this when surely it is the natural conclusion of self ID and the stonewall trans umbrella?

I’m more concerned that there are still arguments about whether women have autonomy over their own bodies or not.

Well I think his stunt is funny. Sorry but I never liked the argument that abortions have nothing to do with men. It takes two to make a baby and the dad will lose their child too.

Silly man ... there have always been women who are anti-choice for other women, who get 'called out' for it. . But this daft story does make clear by its ridiculousness, only women - human females, the sex with ovaries - can get pregnant and therefore may need to choose whether to have an abortion or not. Whether this senator is a man or really was a transwoman, it would make no difference whatever to the legitimacy of their position.

I love how news sources like Buzzfeed are implying that because he's old and white, he's obviously a joker. Can't old white people be transgender? 

No TrashyTerf you can only be a woman if you look (or try to look) like a porn star - anyone else is taking the piss or labelled as cis and/or TERF because they are not doing the "woman thing" properly.

It depends. If you're white, you're responsible for all of the world's problems. Doubly so if you're male. But being old is somewhat of a pass, providing you don't claim to be transage.
