Yes hard to work out whether he is conflating stuff or whether it is just poor journalism. I assume he is referring to the pressure academics have come under for being openly GC, which can't be a bad thing.
I am hoping someone else will cover it better. Unfortunately the Guardian won't and others are behind a paywall. And that Universities will take it as a further demand to protect free speech on campus.
