Gender not sex in work survey

My place of employment has sent out an invite for an anonymous survey about what it's like to work there.

It's not anonymous for a start as it asks age
Range you are in, what office your work if you go into the office and a couple of other things that make it really easy to identify me if you add them all together.

They have also asked what gender. The options are male, female or other.
Shouldn't they have put sex rather than gender?

I'm all mixed up with this today.

I am an adult female human.

can you reply to who ever sent the survey out and ask them to clarify this?
State you have concerns that it is identifying due to office/ age range questions and ask why they have asked for gender.

Usually I say if you have asked this for equality monitoring purposes then you should be asking for sex and/ or gender reassignment as separate questions

If not why is it needed and why isn't there a prefer not to say option

They should be asking for sex BTW and they should have a prefer not to say option in all these questions

They send out an "anonymous" survey to complete every year sigh.

I'm not too bothered about them being able to identify me as I usually say I'm a male anyway just to be safe.

It's bothered me that they have put gender rather than sex.

Ideally I'd like to ask them why they chose to put gender rather than sex but I'm on their shit list as I asked why we didn't complete a equality in the workplace for pay last year.

If a lovely MNetter could phrase me a well worded email I'd send it in and ask.

Civil service people survey? I lie on it.

Self- ID into a different office and age bracket. And then put some nonsense for gender. If I see it on a form instead of "sex" I tick other, and then put some random animal in there.

I just do other because my gender isn’t either of the other options.

Use the "other" box. "Sex:Female" and a treatise on why sex is not the same as gender and why they need to monitor sex..
