Because I doubt any of you read it . Grin

I agree with her and think she’s brave. I’m irritated, annoyed and upset that I have to call her brave for having an opinion and putting it in print.

Polly, I don’t do Twitter, so I’ll say it here. .If I ever see you in the pub I’ll buy you a G&T.

Can someone explain GC?

Shopgirl1 · 29/10/2018 20:46

Gender critical?

WAHF · 29/10/2018 20:49

Yes @Shopgirl1

Well done Polly. Has she had any stick from it?

LassWiADelicateAir · 29/10/2018 23:13

She has re-tweeted some of Janice Turner's tweets and a critical one by Giles Coren.

Floisme · 29/10/2018 23:21

I think she tweeted in support of Janice Turner over the suicide business too.

Here’s a screenshot of the e-magazine version if that makes life any easier

I think it's a good article and it'll reach an important demographic. The more it becomes socially acceptable to be gender critical the better.

I don't hit any snags for being GC because I'm older and my friends don't think TWAW anyway. Younger women are more inclined to be nice and accepting, I think. They need to be alerted.

Exactly this. Grazia has a younger and more female demographic than The Times etc. It feels like GC is tipping over into the mainstream.

And for the cynics about women's magazines, Grazia this week had articles on the anniversary of #metoo, period poverty in Kenya, and an interview with Jodi Picoult about her latest book and the threats to abortion rights in the US. All in among the fashion and beauty. It's a clever mix.

Roystonv · 30/10/2018 07:16

Don't care what publication such an article is in, it is all grist to the mill. Concise, to the point and will hopefully reach a new audience.

LikeDust · 30/10/2018 07:59

It's a good article for an important demographic. I personally can't stand women's mags (I feel oddly depressed after reading them - they are too full of things I apparently should be interested in but am not, so I start to perceive myself like I am not womaning right), but I know a number of women who find them very relaxing- and steer conversations away from my 'latest' concerns, so this article will reach them better than me.

If you look at Polly Vernon’s insta, it’s full of cocks! She needs to get herself in touch with her inner #stickerwoman Grin

Would be good to donate your copies to the GP/Hospital/Dentist waiting room when you've finished with them. Smile

SeeTwoTo · 30/10/2018 13:05

That’s a good idea likedust.

I don't buy mags but I've bought this one deliberately to leave in the hairdressers on Saturday

WhereYouLeftIt · 31/10/2018 14:18

Thanks for putting this here OP, you're right I wouldn't have seen it otherwise.

Polly has made a very important point about an inevitable result of the #nodebate, one I hadn't seen. That by not discussing the subject, the TRAs also can't argue their point and persuade people that they are right. And the unpersuaded will become unpersuadable ("entrenched").

I do think this will work against them. I can certainly remember being contrary whenever anyone was highhanded to me (still am), and #nodebate is nothing if not highhanded.
