If you (Manchester Academy) are going to give no their option but unisex loos, that all the doors locks should actually fucking work?
I am so fucking angry. I’m at a punk tribute night so audience is roughly 70% blokes. I’m also a bit drunk and can’t really articulate why this makes me so bloody cross but really! It does!

Thats ridiculous. The argument given for unisex loos is that you have cubicles, but if you can’t lock them that’s unacceptable. Its really hard to have a wee while holding the door closed.

It being an academy, is this a school for children?

No it’s not unreasonable to expect toilet doors to lock. I don’t think it’s more reasonable to have the doors to single sex facilities not work either but that’s not the issue.

They have an SU at a school? That’s pretty cool. I thought you meant the o2 Academy (Apollo Manchester) which IMO would be worse but I’m not sure why I feel that way.

No, The Academy is a building within the Manchester Uni campus, part of the Student Union. It's a popular venue for mid-sized live bands and cheesy 80s nights (20 years ago, anyway ). It's always been a bloody dive, I'm not at all surprised the locks don't work.

I’m nearly 40 so not arsed about escaping from random blokes that won’t leave me alone but my 18 year old self is wondering where the hell I can escape to.

In the SU it's only the ground floor loos that are unisex, the ones on the 2nd floor for Academy 2 and the top for Academy 3 are all still M/F.

Don't recall unisex loos at the Academy (big room) last time I was there but I'm usually driving, not drinking and therefore not needing to pee when I'm in there!
