So during a discussion about transwomen identifying as lesbians and also the female partners of transwomen doing the same I labelled myself as a lesbian.

I have been in relationships with for 5 years now.

I have ZERO interest in men.

I have no sexual attraction to them.

I will never date a man again.

I was told I am not a lesbian. I am bi because have a child from a relationship previously.

I was told I am bisplaining lesbianism and I should own my bisexuality.

I'm sorry but every lesbian I know except TWO have had sex or sexual contact with boys/men in their youth.

Surely that doesn't negate a woman's right to define her self as a lesbian in a lesbian relationship

This woman was very angry at me and then blocked me. I'm not sure if she was actually a tranperson.

So can you be a lesbian If you have had sex with a man in the past?

I would say that's world's away from being in a CURRENT relationship with a 'woman with a penis' and saying you are a lesbian.

I believe so, OP. There are plenty of gay men who have had relationships with women in the past who now define themselves as gay.
People have relationships for all sorts of reasons - social pressures, experimentation, perhaps they love and care for the person and have sex with them to show that, or perhaps they just don't know themselves at that point.
It's really your business. If you feel that you are only attracted to women now then you can say you are a kesbian.

Or lesbian, even.

Datun · 20/10/2018 15:55

Course you can. The definition of a lesbian as if you are sexually attracted to another woman.

You can have sex with a man without being sexually attracted to him.

Easily.

I don't see rhe relevance of trans in your post?

If you're gay you're gay. If you had sexual relationships with men in the past and have realised itnwasnt honest, you weren't attracted to them, then yes you're gay. What's it got to do with trans folks?

PopsiMax · 20/10/2018 16:01

Because it was on a trans discussion thread and that how my sexuality was brought up.

No one can dictate your sexuality. Most people explore different types of encounters at some point in their lives. If you are only attracted to people born with vaginas then by definition you are a lesbian
