I've just logged on to complete it and it still says today. It was so slow last night I had to stop, it's still very slow but I will get it done today.

Arghhhhhhhffs · 19/10/2018 17:49

No but that's good news!

From the website

The deadline for the Gender Recognition Act consultation has been extended due to the high volume of responses. You now have until Monday 22 October at 12 noon to submit your response. You can submit online using our online consultation website

Waterparc · 19/10/2018 17:54

is anyone's first thought "oh bloody hell I thought we were going to have a cup of tea"?

boatyardblues · 19/10/2018 17:56

If the Times are planning a feature this weekend, let’s hope it includes a link to the consultation.

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 19/10/2018 17:58

53,000+ responses so far.

cupofteaandcake · 19/10/2018 18:05

Thanks for confirming that gives me a bit longer, it soooooo slow.

misscockerspaniel · 19/10/2018 18:09

That is sensible.

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 19/10/2018 18:13

It is sensible. I'm glad and amazed I got it done a while back. I'm dreadful with deadlines. If I'd been planning to get it done just in time, I'd have ended up going to the wire on Monday instead of tonight.

IKeepFlouncing · 19/10/2018 18:13

Good because was worried head of primary school will had chance to look at material gave today and vote 🙌🏻

IKeepFlouncing · 19/10/2018 18:13

*wouldnt not will

LiverpoolReSisters · 19/10/2018 18:19

Fantastic news.

Gncq · 19/10/2018 18:21

Oh god I'm so anxious. I wonder if over 26,000 responses could possibly be gender critical. I mean, Stonewall's reach and connections are so vast, compared to a handful of feminists with zero support from the media (Times /Telegraph acknowledged)...

Bonions · 19/10/2018 18:22

Excellent! Am heading to a party and was worried about being the bore in the corner telling people they only had hours to make their views heard but now I can throw about the hands off my rights postcards and tell them they have until Monday.

Ekphrasis · 19/10/2018 18:22

I'm fuming that a crafts person I follow has shared stonewall's page. Luckily the other followers appear to be GC too...

NopeNi · 19/10/2018 18:24

I'm sort of hoping that it's not a vote - as in, "26000 say this and 27000 say that so they win".

Even if a few thousand consistently say "this particular thing is a problem", surely they'll at least have to read that, won't they?

EverardDigby · 19/10/2018 18:25

I'm presuming they'll have to do an analysis by demographic though and then they can adjust for population statistics. Though I can't remember what they asked around that, I've blanked the whole experience of filling it in! Or is that being overoptimistic?

silentcrow · 19/10/2018 18:28

I wonder how many responses they were expecting - anyone hazard a guess?

TheCountryGirl · 19/10/2018 18:32

Bet the BBC is spitting mad!🤣

ProfessoressWoland · 19/10/2018 18:42

Great news.
I did it early this morning and didn't have any problems. I used the WPUK guidance as a reference, I'd recommend reading it first.

gendercritter · 19/10/2018 18:44

53k responses is a lot!

boatyardblues · 19/10/2018 18:45

If I recall, it didn’t ask the E&D questions in an open, standardised way for all respondents. The question was aimed at trans respondents only and asked what intersecting protected characteristics they had, so it won’t be possible to do a proper analysis to see the splits by religious belief, age, disability etc. So annoying!

PersonWithAVulva · 19/10/2018 18:47

I wonder how many of those are GC.

Also hoping its not going to be a case of 25k people say no, 26k people say yes so self ID passes. That would be ridiculous tbh.

I also hope they read responses thoroughly rather than just the gist. I spent hours on mine, going into specific concerns. Before FPFW put their easy click thing on.

FoldyRoll · 19/10/2018 18:53

Probably more than normal silentcrow as it's an emotive topic, but surely not the number they have received.

With 53,000+ responses, my guess would be that they are overwhelmingly in favour of the amendments. No evidence for that, it's just a hunch.

Whatever happens, Pandora's box has been opened. We're not going to shut up. I'm quite looking forward to some civil disobedience. Grin
