Not aimed at the activists themselves as much as the supporters who are limited to parroting accepted orthodoxies and are unable to think for themselves.
The NPC (or non-playable character) applies in many spheres of course, but does rather skewer those who see stating 'TWAW' as the end of the discussion. It's also hard to oppose as it merely criticises an unquestioning approach, so in itself is not racist, sexist etc.
Who knows, it could be just a flash in the pan but I still see it as a symbol of an increasing number of people who want to freely discuss all sorts of issues rather than be told what they can and can't say by self-appointed 'woke' Gatekeepers.
