There is going to be a trans speaker at our WI very soon.

I'm unsure about the content and I may have to miss this evening for fear of my views

If you're brave - can you have a meeting/email your views or concerns (I don't presume to know what they are!) before and ask to present on the issues that it raises for women?

Thinking of getting a T-shirt and sitting quietly

I think apart from being an AHF I'm not sure what this event will bring to the WI.

One of the members had escaped a violent marriage and the wi is a safe space to meet with other women,

I just fear an agenda

Of course there will be an agenda. It's about cementing the image of the transexual, as an integrated, low profile woman who is not a risk to women and children. It will be emotive. It will garner sympathy.

And so it should.

But the WI will have been misled into thinking that the transwoman is representative of the trans umbrella.

On this board, have become familiar with:.
Cheating transwomen killing women's sports
The rising numbers of prisoners claiming to be women
The 8.5 men out of 10 transwomen who are attracted to women and retain their three piece suite, beards and male pattern baldness
The impact of 'mixed sex' facilities on women's spaces
The dangers of 'mixed sex' facilities that allow better access to children and women
The social contagion of Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria
The intimidation, persecution and harms caused to women who are sceptical of the view that transwomen are women.
Autogynephiles and fetishists performing in plain sight

There is a bigger picture - but I doubt that the WI will hear about it at your talk.

You know you have to take one for the team and report back, don’t you, OP?

pennydrew · 17/10/2018 09:23

Do not miss this meeting! You must share your views.

TimeLady · 17/10/2018 09:35

What's the talk about? If it's trans issues. they should expect some pushback as this is a political hot potato, and opposing voices have a right to be heard too.

If it's about 19C flower arranging, then perhaps not. Grin

WI organising committees are often on the hunt for speakers, and they may have booked this person because they offered. Can you offer to the organising group to find an expert speaker from WPUK or TransgenderTrend, or similar? Either as part of the panel (with the true justification that it'll make for a much more interesting evening) or as a separate event?
