Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Non-standard SRS , implications to single sex spaces

I came across this thread from one of the Transgender subreddits

archive.fo/IUcJm

Essentially the OP has had surgery where they asked to have their scrotum turned into a 'vagina' but have kept their penis.

So they have both so to speak (and they weren't the first to have this done).

The comments are very appreciative of now knowing that this can be done and praised the OP.

In regards to single sex spaces there are always a few that will say that as long as the transperson has had srs (and now has a 'vagina') that they should be allowed in.

Where would those people stand if the transperson has had this type of surgery? Yes they have a 'vagina' but also a penis 🤔

is a toy car a car? Is a full scale model of a horse a horse? Is a vagina created by plastic surgery a vagina?

The vagina is an external representation of biological sex which is genetically determined.

I can see an argument for special treatment for people with gender dysmorphia and full removal of Male sex organs and hormonal treatment .

A vagina is an organ not a penis pocket. Nobody who has had srs has a vagina so it is neither here nor there.

Obviously it is not a vagina, what they got. Setting that aside, 'no penises* in women's spaces' solves the issue for me, I sure can't be arsed to ask any penis person, whether they additionally have a surgically constructed pseudo-vagina.

*I understand arguments to ban all males SRS or not, no GRC, and it may be the right thing to do after this TRA-induced farce (as e.g. Miranda Yardley argues). But 'no penises' is the minimum as far as I am concerned.

**even though pomo 'feminists' may accuse me of fetishizing penis, in their through the looking glass approach to pretty much everyting.

I think the people who are willing to support exceptions for men who have been surgically altered always mean men who no longer have a penis. Never seen anyone talk about it in terms of presence of a vagina (which is of course impossible for anyone who wasn't born with one).

If a man wants to retain his penis for orgasm purposes, but wants a fake vagina for sexy kinky time purposes, he's the last bloody person I want anywhere near me, let alone in an intimate space.

VickyEadie · 13/10/2018 15:24

Keeping a dick and fashioning a fake vagina - THAT'S the epitome of an autogynephile, isn't it?

Peach Yoghurt

I know it's not a vagina.

Hence using the ''.

I didn't want to get deleted.

Not really what this post was about though.

I was thinking to the comments by someone on the Ricky Gervais thread where they said that if a transwoman has had srs they should be with the women (I don't agree myself).

The OP in the thread has had srs...but still kept his penis. Where, according to those who agree with transwomen in female only spaces but ONLY if they have had srs, would this person belong if they were to go to prison for example.

If a transwoman has a vagina they obviously may not want to be in male facilities. But then the transwoman fully male below the waist but with large, surgically and hormonally created breasts shouldn't have been put in a male prison either, there was no way that was going to end well.

Not in the mens facilities doesn't automatically equal using the female facilities. Third space.

I would at one time have been ok with sharing with men past certain degrees of transition, but after it was pointed out on Debbie Hayton's thread about groups of men in varying stages of transition arguing about which of them were most entitled to be women and use women's spaces (and that actual women had no say in this and their consent wasn't relevant) I spotted the male entitlement and chauvinism at work and got a grip. If born male no entering women only facilities or using the word woman. Very very happy to support the creation of gender neutral or trans specific spaces and to celebrate the unique and proud identity of transwoman or transman.

I am a woman who has had a total hysterectomy so no uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries or cervix.

On a thread a TRA said that my vagina (and other women's who have had similar operation for medical neccesity) was the same as the orifice created by surgeons for males who identify as women. They were described as a 'blind canals'. I can't describe how offensive this is.

R0wantrees · 13/10/2018 15:43

Males don't have vaginas.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 13/10/2018 15:46

I agree R0 , I'm sorry. I should have said artificial.

Bowlofbabelfish · 13/10/2018 15:46

Fairly simple for me.

  1. No men in women’s spaces
  2. Humans can’t change sex.
