A Gentleman In The Ladies

I asked for views of men in our bathroom. Either gender neutral or single sex. I collared women's views and experiences.

It makes grim and worrying reading indeed.

"It's not ALL about loos .... but it is ALSO about loos"

Good distinction!

Babdoc · 11/10/2018 09:07

Excellent article. These women’s experiences need publicised widely, as they illustrate the issue so graphically. And give the lie to the TRAs who claim that “would never happen”.

AngryAttackKittens · 11/10/2018 09:08

I can think of at least two cases, one in the US and one in Australia, where a transwoman beat a woman so badly in the women's toilets that the women ended up with broken teeth. In the Australian case the beating occurred in the process of an attempted rape, and was specifically prompted by the woman attacked saying some very mildly GC things. In the American case, the transwoman was well over 6ft tall and well over 200 pounds.

How many women and girls have to be hurt before the "oh it's fine and you're all just being silly" bastards will listen?

R0wantrees · 11/10/2018 09:25

@Jeanhatchet
Are you aware of this very serious case in Scotland, reported this summer?

Two young girls aged 10 & 12 years old sexually assaulted in women's supermarket toilets by 17 year old apparently male and likely transwoman/non-binary.

August 8th 2018
"The 17-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court and admitted voyeurism and sexual assault charges.

The teenager followed a young girl into the toilets at the Halbeath Asda store in Dunfermline on February 8 this year and filmed her on a mobile phone.

Depute fiscal Sarah Lumsden told the court the accused had been to the toilets with a carer and was walking towards the exit when the young child walked past.

Miss Lumsden said: “The accused (said their) mobile phone was still in the toilets and returned to them, alone.

“The young girl was in a cubicle and was sitting with her leggings and pants down when she saw a hand holding a mobile phone over the partition wall.

“The girl shouted and the person rushed out of the adjacent cubicle.”

The young girl then left the toilets and was described as looking “shocked”. The matter was reported to the police who retrieved in-store CCTV footage from the time of the incident.

Investigators were able to identify the teenager, whose accommodation in Kirkcaldy was searched.

A 12-second video clip of the girl on the toilet, followed by footage of the teenager running away, were recovered when an iPad and a mobile phone were seized.

A second incident took place at the Morrison’s store in Kirkcaldy on March 4.

The court was told a 10-year-old girl had been inside the toilets while her father waited outside.

Miss Lumsden said: “The complainer’s dad then heard his daughter screaming and came running out of the bathroom, looking as if she was running away from someone.

“She explained that a crazy man with long hair was in the bathroom and had grabbed her face and pushed her into a cubicle, before demanding she take her trousers off.

“She said the person had said they would stab her mum. She was upset and inconsolable.”

Police officers attended and found the cubicle locked inside the female toilets.

A male voice was heard coming from inside, saying: “I’ve been silly. I bumped into her. I’ve been silly.”

The teenager was taken to Kirkcaldy police station and charged.

Defence solicitor Andrew Grieve said his client had been in the social care system from the age of three and had been actively engaging with mental health services.

Sheriff James Williamson placed the teenager on the sex offenders register and deferred sentencing for background reports."

sex neutral descriptors with reported speech indicating the offender was male
offender was 17 years old so not possible to have GRC
Due to social care involvement was the YP's gender identity affirmed by support workers?
Dad had waited outside whilst his daughter used what he will have almost certainly presumed to be a same-sex space

see thread with toolkit, guidance etc for social care staff, foster carers and young people in care system and Tara Hewitt (Stephen Whittle/ Christine Burns?) involvement in production of guide.
Also promotion of the toolkit etc at recent Adoption and Fostering health conference in Scotland by Tara Hewitt (keynote speaker)

A thing has popped up on my FB page this morning about the advert in the metro. They're suggesting that the fair play for women campaign is being funded by fundamental christians from America. I'm alarmed.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 11/10/2018 09:46

lolol

Because British women don't have any dollars, man.

All the money we get from sending our kids up chimneys goes on chewing tobacco and straw for our bedding.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 11/10/2018 09:46

what are you alarmed Dhalandchips? That's bollocks

the FPFW campaign was funded with fivers and tenners from ordinary women like me

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 11/10/2018 09:48

also, why are you posting on Jeans thread about the FPFW campaign?

unless you're one of the people who is throwing accusations around on twitter about the FPFW funding being linked to Jean's campaign?

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 11/10/2018 09:49

and I had to revise that post three times as being honest about how I feel about those people on twitter would certainly be 'not in the spirit'

ADastardlyThing · 11/10/2018 09:51

Dhala anyone can suggest anything g. For instance I could suggest that the trans movement is funded by a number of wealthy white men, one in particular from the USA too. Would that make it true?

AngryAttackKittens · 11/10/2018 09:53

Well actually...

ADastardlyThing · 11/10/2018 09:54
Wink
QuentinWinters · 11/10/2018 09:56

The toilet thing is annoying.
They secondary school my dd goes to has unisex toilets that open to the corridor, I asked her about it, she hates it. She hates that she can hear people walking past, she thinks they can hear her. She said she tries not to go at school now.
I don't know why this is happening, using the loo is a private experience. It's PC gorn mad, that's what it is

AngryAttackKittens · 11/10/2018 09:58

She said she tries not to go at school now.

In addition to all the other issues this is really not good for anyone's health. All the girls will be getting super woke urinary tract infections.

QuentinWinters · 11/10/2018 09:58

I've seen that too. I didn't find it alarming. Its obviously orchestrated and the TRAs must be rattled to suggest a load of left voting British women are being funded by American far right groups. Anyone with an ounce of intelligence will spot that as extremely unlikely and therefore probably a bollocks smear campaign.
It's a backlash, it shows the tide is turning

PineappleSunrise · 11/10/2018 10:07

Yes, given how many lesbians, transexuals and bog standard lefty het women are supporting FPFW it's quite a stretch to try and get people to believe it's all a vast right wing conspiracy to keep GNC people down.

SpannerInTheWorks · 11/10/2018 10:45

Haven't had a chance to read your article yet, Jean, but I was heartened to see this being re-tweeted on my work Twitter timeline, which has a few mainstream feminist follows but nothing overtly GC.

It's the latest in a series of Twitter mentions and retweets which I have seen in the last couple of weeks, the message does seem to be leaking out into the mainstream :)

Jeanhatchet · 11/10/2018 10:53

There's some right nonsense being posted about that ad. It's a free paper so likely to have cost about £2000 not the £45000 being touted by the trans activists. No one needs to go begging the right wing churches of right wingness for £2000. FairPlay For Women raised a decent fund I believe.

Honestly - I'm surprised they can remember their own addresses the stuff they make up .

OP posts:
AncientLights · 11/10/2018 11:09

But so what if it did cost £45,000? I also doubt that, but it's essentially men telling us what to spend our money on. How much did Bergdorf's face cost? Could've spent that on refuges, food banks too. Jean - brilliant work, where would we be without you?

AngryAttackKittens · 11/10/2018 11:12

I wonder how they keep track of all the lies they tell. Maybe there's an Excel spreadsheet?

Dhalandchips · 11/10/2018 11:17

Sorry, I didn't mean to upset anyone, I'm REALLY baffled by the whole trans thing and trying my very best to get my head around it. @bernard I don't use Twitter, never got my head around it either!
I'm alarmed that there are people who will believe anything they are told in the guise of political correctness.
I'm firmly in the ' women are adult human females' camp.

Dhalandchips · 11/10/2018 11:21

Sorry @jean

Dhalandchips · 11/10/2018 11:29

@jean can I share your blog? I'm going to get ripped to shreds but...

R0wantrees · 11/10/2018 11:31

Dhalandchips

many people have forund this thread helpful:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3145470-Break-it-down-for-me

MinecraftHolmes · 11/10/2018 12:17

R0wantrees fuck I wasn't aware of that and that's my Asda! That Courier article is the only thing that could even be described as coverage in a local paper - and at that it's not "the Dunfermline paper", so most locals will be completely unaware that it happened.
