I can meet up too as in town today, I have sent an email as feedback as follows:

Hi, You have a typo throughout your website which I'm sure you'll be eager to correct, as a pro graphic designer I'd never let something go live without thoroughly proofing, it's truly irritating when as a professional I see basic spelling errors. The word 'women' is spelt incorrectly as 'womxn' throughout. My own spell checker picked it up so I'm truly surprised yours did not. You might want to have a word with your content writers and designers to make sure it doesn't happen again. I find Grammarly is good and it's free too!

Hopefully they will be embarassed enough to change this. All I can say is what a load of cobblers. Do they have nothing between their ears?

It would be quite exciting to meet other people from Notts, I don't get out enough...

parkingarmageddon · 11/10/2018 06:03

Another one from Nottingham here!

ErrolTheDragon · 11/10/2018 08:24

After coverage of the Wellcome fiasco on newsnight(albeit badly) and other mainstream media hopefully this lot are aware 'womxn' pleases nobody. I put sharetoken links to Time article and Janice Turner comment piece on the 'newsnight' thread, you can c&p those if they're helpful to you Notts people following up on this.

Worth researching previous regimes which renamed a group of people and denied them political, civil and legal rights. As this progresses, it is easy to see who is standing to benefit from this.

Carriemac · 11/10/2018 09:17

Im local and would love to meet up to protest / Discuss this

Grin that's great.

I'm well irritating I am! The microsoft scammers haven't rung back since the last time I upset them...

I've not had any reply yet...

I wonder why could that be?

GinInATin · 11/10/2018 22:24

Nottingham Contempt have updated their position on using the word ‘womxn’ and co-opting Maya Angelou as one of their ‘womxn’
mobile.twitter.com/Nottm_Contemp/status/1050403434170601478

Spoiler:

GinInATin · 11/10/2018 22:26

.... spoiler: ‘we’re keeping it although we will release Maya Angelou back to womanhood.’

sportinguista · 12/10/2018 18:24

Apparently it also doesn't represent those who do not consider themselves represented by it...that would be most women then!

Who the hell DOES it represent then?

Melamin · 12/10/2018 19:16

It is completely silly.

Any woman who does not know about the silly goings on behind the scenes would know wtf they were going on about, and would think that they were a woman (no matter what colour their skin).

Now100 · 24/10/2018 21:09

I haven't got a ticket for the launch yet... anyone fancy meeting there on Friday? Guess we could arrange using private messages, never used them before, not sure how!

If I wasn't so bloody ill I'd have gone. My new T-shirt has come too, which would have been perfect!

Carriemac · 24/10/2018 23:03

I could go

Now100 · 24/10/2018 23:08

Shame, the exhibition will be on for 2-3 months so plenty of time.

I could meet you there carrimac, I am trying to remember the email I used for mumsnet, can't remember to log in via website to send private messages.

Now100 · 24/10/2018 23:26

Sorted logging in to do private messages, will send one to people who said they live nearby to see if we can meet on Friday.

Have messaged everyone who said they were local and interested in meeting up, could do it either this Friday or another time during the exhibition.

Let me know if I have missed you and you also want to meet.

another day would be better for me, DD is coming home from uni Friday evening and I'm working all day

sportinguista · 26/10/2018 12:22

Have messaged back and would be happy to meet this next week. Have noticed that they have now changed womxn to women so maybe they saw the light eh?

sportinguista · 10/01/2019 19:24

They're at it again, but it seems they think women of colour aren't really women but womxn! I'm not sure how many womxn of colour there are in Nottingham as I doubt many think they are womxn, they most likely have been walking around thinking they are just women.

Bangs head on desk...

Purplewithgreenspots · 10/01/2019 19:34

Maybe it just means to exclude all women, irrespective of what they look like and only include womxn of colour, who/whatever they are 🤷🏽‍♀️
