Civil service staff survey

Any civil servants here? Have you completed the staff survey yet?

The questions about gender identity are, um, interesting, as is the lack of any question about sex, despite asking questions about the other protected characteristics.

I have raised concerns with my department but have been told that these questions are Government wide, cabinet office responsibility.

I have asked for my concerns to be forwarded to the relevant people in the Cabinet Office. Apparently they may review the wording for next year if there are enough complaints.

So please let them know how you feel about the survey!

Yes - I’ve been in touch with my HR.

I pointed out the discrimination questions incorrectly used gender too. I’m waiting as response but understand I’m not the only one who raised it.

DH filled it in and came home telling me proudly that he’d put “Gender is a tool of the patriarchy. My sex is male” in the free text box.

He may be a bit rubbish sometimes, but just for that, he’s a keeper :-)

Well done Mr Interviewee! On my form (I understand each department has a slightly different one either though the questions are mostly the same) there was no free text box for the "gender" questions. However I did add a bit of an essay a few words in another random free text box as well as emailing HR.

Pessimistic - Glad to hear there have been other complaints.* Sorry didn't realise there was a previous thread.

I’ve had it, but have not vimpkrted it yet. Will scrutinise the questions carefully.

Im not finished as Im mulling over how I word my objections, I now have some ideas 😃

Are the surveys different then?

I've done mine today and, as well as "What is your gender identity?" to which, naturally, I used the free format option to put sex - female, they asked "At birth, were you assigned...male/female/prefer not to say".

I didn't have a huge issue as I felt that they were recording sex with this question. Am I missing something obvious?
