Why does UN say Gender Dysphoria NOT mental illness?

AFAIK the World Health Org changed the definition in the last year or so to say it isn't a mental illness. Does anyone with scientific or medical or psychiatric knowledge understand why the definition changed? If it's not a mental illness, what kind of condition is it classed as and why? I've tried looking into this but it all goes over my head. Or if this has been discussed and I missed it, please could some kind person post a link to that thread. Ta.

You surely can't tell for sure until we can scan newborns.

Scanning a newborn would not help you determine a newborn's sex, because we are talking overlapping Gaussian curves, here. It is as nonsensical as determining an adult person's sex by measuring their heigth.

Feels like the 'woke' world has completely fallen down the rabbit hole now. I'm infuriated at the idea my hormones worked on my brain and gave me the 'woman feelz' and that's why I'm 'cis'!!! I feel like a woman because I look down and there's female parts, I bleed monthly and I have to have smears! What I make out of being a woman is up to me (and admittedly societal influence) - I don't wear frilly dresses because I like wearing trousers, my hormones are working just the same as someone female in stilettos and a mini skirt!!

YY Toddleoo its very hard to work out what part of me feeling likea woman is me, and what part is the woman bit.

I mean, I just feel like me - plus I happen to be a woman. I'm trying to work out what part of feeling like me is the woman bit. Is it wanting to put makeup and a dress on? Is that all that 'feeling like a woman' boils down to? If so that seems very stereotyped and caricatured.

Androgen insensitivity syndrome is nothing do to with trans, who wrote that crap ? It is an intersex condition where the male body is unable or less able to respond to male hormones, so either has an entirely female appearance, ( although taller than average), or with partial insensitivity, a body with certain developmental differences from the norm.
With complete androgen insensitivity syndrome the person would commonly be assumed to be female until puberty when they don’t menstruate.
This is a developmental disorder, it isn’t transgender !

But unfortunately no one outside MN understands that. The NHS Gender Dysphoria page starts waffling on about it.
