Apologies if anyone has already posted this but the Evening Standard have a comment piece on the boycott and apparently have approached Ocado for a statement. I hope they aren't holding their breath....

Excellent! Thanks for posting. Looking forward to reading BBC coverage of this (doesn’t hold breath)

PerryPerryThePlatypus · 01/10/2018 14:05

Jeez the smell of ocado backtracking would knock you out.

AbsintheFriends · 01/10/2018 14:46

It would have been great if the description of HumanFemales as a 'transphobic hate group' had been challenged, or an alternative perspective given. Hopefully most people will get how ridiculous that is, but a clarification would have been good.

Excellent that the story is out there.

LittleMissedTheSunshine · 01/10/2018 14:51

OMG its actually fairly balanced.. or at least not completely shouting TRANSPHOBIA which these days passes for balanced, unfortunately. I'd have liked to see more of a linkage to GRA but hey ho, it's still getting things out there.

Serfisafleur · 01/10/2018 14:53

What total dick heads.

GulagsMyArse · 01/10/2018 14:56

Tipping point,

LittleMissedTheSunshine · 01/10/2018 14:59

I bet somebody in Ocado's customer service team got a right shoeing for this! Serves em right for just jumping on Harrop's bandwagon without thinking it through.

heresyandwitchcraft · 01/10/2018 15:02

Thanks for the sign-post Evening Standard!

LittleMissedTheSunshine · 01/10/2018 15:07

Yes heresy its got far more exposure now than it ever would if it had just been allowed to stay where it was.

I don't know if Posie did all this thinking this would happen but if she did - brilliant!

AbsintheFriends · 01/10/2018 15:13

Also the article says the thread attracted over 100 commenters, when surely that should have been 1000 and still rising! (call me picky...)

LittleMissedTheSunshine · 01/10/2018 15:14

Can't ask for everything Absinthe. I think the article is a hit, it doesn't directly support one view or the other but it will get people thinking about it which is the main thing. The general public will become aware that they can decide for themselves what woman means, without TWAW being forced down their throat.

heresyandwitchcraft · 01/10/2018 15:22

I think it also sends a signal to all the companies jumping unthinkingly on the authoritarian band-wagon that actually ordinary women are a force to be reckoned with.
Nobody likes making mothers deeply disappointed.

3TresTrois · 01/10/2018 15:25

Excellent!

finnmcool · 01/10/2018 15:29

I'm on my ancient phone that keeps freezing.

Could someone please, post a comment about how the CEO of Ocado attended the Presidents Club dinner. The event where the hostesses were sexually harassed.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 01/10/2018 15:58

Pleased that the Standard have covered this, but I'm disappointed that they don't appear to have quoted the whole tweet from Ocado. Caveat - I can't see the article very well on my phone - it doesn't appear have quoted the part about Ocado and Primesight having aligned values....

Really hoping more media pick up on this now.

Starkstaring · 01/10/2018 16:51

Ocado were on You and Your's at lunchtime - not talking about this incident but clearly have ramped up their PR as a result!
