So one last peak before Sunday Dinner.

Suspected evil witch JK Rowling, has been accused of much hatred in many forms. Obviously the "liking" of one gender critical post is utterly damning. But who knew her inventing mythical creatures would be proof of the depths of her Naziness?!

Trans Rights Activists demonstrating once again they are a power for goodness and sanity in this world.

For lurkers.

One woman posted on twitter that rapists in female jails is not a good idea.

JK 'liked' this post.

The end.

That is IT!

That is how you go from shero to public enemy number one.

That is how they control the narrative, keeping everyone in line.

SquishySquirmy · 30/09/2018 16:31

So they deduce that a group of ugly creatures who are bankers must be based on Jews?
Now that is offensive!
Not what JK Rowling did (take a mythical creature which has always been linked to gold and underground mines and add a twist where they run an underground bank).
But what those twats are doing: Deciding that an ugly, underground creature which runs a bank must be Jewish. (I would hazard a guess that none of the outraged are actually Jewish themselves).

IStillMissBlockbuster · 30/09/2018 16:32

What did Datun say that got deleted? (If someone could say, without getting themselves deleted also...!)

DoctorTwo · 30/09/2018 18:46

@SquishySquirmy maybe one of those arms identifies as belonging to Rachel Dolezal...

LittleLebowski · 30/09/2018 19:32

What did Datun say that got deleted?
Not entirely sure! I did read it and respond, so nothing that seemed to be crossing the 'line' Confused She mentioned how many TRA types including - (and I'm guessing the deletion has something to do with this) - LM who shall not be named (gasp!) appear to be massive Harry Potter fans, grew up with the books and so on. JK's attitude and opinions, especially as she is big on Twitter, are therefore very important to them. It's why she is such a target for criticism when any of her characters and plots don't quite meet all the demands of the correct progressive value policing we see so much of these days. I don't know why JK bothers trying to appease them so much as there will always be something they can pick on. I prefer the Lionel Shriver outlook on artistic creation. I suppose JK feels very responsible with so many people idolizing her.

FermatsTheorem · 30/09/2018 20:32

Molokono thank you for that succinct and brilliantly pithy explanation of this particular piece of insanity.

JK, if you're reading - you might as well come out of the GC closet. The trans-ideologues have scented blood and nothing you can do will appease them - they will take a pound of flesh, then another, then another... Join Janice Turner, Graham Linnehan, Hadley Freeman (to name but a few) in the sunlit uplands of saying "Yes, I am gender critical. So?"

AngryAttackKittens · 30/09/2018 20:35

How do people that fragile get through the day? Do they have to retreat back to their bedroom mid-morning to wrap themselves in a blankie and suck their thumb while clutching Teddy?

FermatsTheorem · 30/09/2018 20:43

AAK as someone who is involved (albeit slightly round the fringes) in "fandom", I can attest that, in with the majority of ordinary folk who just follow stuff because they've fallen in love with that particular fictional world/characters, there are a quite a lot of deeply troubled individuals with what come across as quite serious mental health individuals.

I feel very sorry for some of them, whose over-investment seems to overshadow the rest of their lives. But there are some who step beyond over-invested into "crazed stalker" territory. (For instance, a friend of a friend of mine was sent death threats on line for a drawing of a couple of characters getting married which was deemed to be "problematic", to use that hideous weasel word which seems to mean "someone, somewhere, could, by virtue of grasping the wrong end of the stick and refusing to let go, get offended by this...")

AngryAttackKittens · 30/09/2018 20:46

Fandom really is alarming sometimes. Lots of people seem to use it as a way to self-medicate.

(Note - I know nothing about the HP fandom as I was too old to be interested in the books when they came out.)

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 30/09/2018 21:02

I would flipping love it- I would love it! if she came out and said you know what- I’m G.C.
Because they are never going to stop trying to control her anyway.
The mushroom cloud of TRA anger would just go BANG!!! And then the absolute idiocy of all the madness would just go smashing right into the main stream. She could do it in the right way- I am really hoping she does in time for the gender recognition act to get some publicity. Go on JK you know you could do it.

Datun · 30/09/2018 21:03

No idea why I was deleted. I haven't received an email.

I just observed that a lot of transactivists appear to be Harry Potter fans.

And they are finding out that far from being a kindred spirit, JKR is actually a very strong, female entrepreneur. The implications of which might come as something of a shock to certain transactivists. Especially young ones.

JKR writes fantasy. For money. She is not someone who will be believing it.

Datun · 30/09/2018 21:09

If I was a transactivist, I would be writing crib notes on how not to draw attention to stuff you don't want people to know about.

I would explain in words of one syllable exactly what the Streisand effect is and how to avoid it.

I am left to conclude that not undermining one's credibility takes a back seat to trawling the Internet for imagined micro aggressions that would otherwise go unremarked.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/09/2018 21:13

I think there are a lot of people who've managed to insulate themselves to the point that the fact that the majority of people don't think humans can change sex, and do think that sex is more important than "gender" and is determined by chromosomes and primary sexual characteristics, has come as a genuine shock to them.

Datun · 30/09/2018 21:20

I agree AAK. They obviously know they haven't changed sex. But they believe that they are somehow different, and different enough to warrant people being forced to keep up the pretence.

Nah.

DereksSexyPyjamas · 30/09/2018 21:33

The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that someone is deliberately stirring in order to sabotage the TRA cause. it makes no sense at all to go after JKR when all she’s done is like a couple of tweets. None. They really need to be backing off on the bullying of women at this point because that peak transfers people like nothing else. And yet here we are.

Someone is stirring. I suspect it would be very easy to do.

Datun · 30/09/2018 21:37

DereksSexyPyjamas

Someone more knowledgeable than me will describe how narcissists think. And what constitutes, and triggers, narcissistic rage.

I suspect that might be where your answer lies.

breastfeedingclownfish · 30/09/2018 21:48

Perhaps Dr Hadoop is the stirrer. Fuck knows he is doing GC the world of good.

Molokonono · 30/09/2018 23:17

thank you for that succinct and brilliantly pithy explanation of this particular piece of insanity
