Hey you lot,

I don't come here often enough. I realised talking to women last night that lots of you who came up to speak to me were mumsnetters and I have always been so mouthy on Twitter .... and I'm so useless at using Mumsnet that I forget the amazing platform you have here and how much support you offer to women like myself.

So - a bit of a post about nothing really. Feel free to remove it. I just wanted to say .... I felt the Mumsnet love and it was warm and comforting. Cheers women x

Does anyone have a link to the talk by Jean that has been mentioned on here? I’d love to hear it!

Twunk · 29/09/2018 19:57

I feel a little something in my eye.

You’re a a proper Shero.

Stuffofawesome · 29/09/2018 20:02

Jean you are amazing.

Anlaf · 29/09/2018 20:19

Does anyone have a link to the talk by Jean that has been mentioned on here?

This should work

Jean, you're incredible Flowers

LittlePearl · 29/09/2018 20:57

Thanks for what you're doing Jean.

I spent the afternoon watching last night's recording on YouTube, then the 'Let a Woman Speak' from Cornwall in the summer.

I'd planned to clean the house but think my time was much better spent listening to you and others!

NewWomensMovement · 29/09/2018 21:15

Thank you Jean I really appreciate your rides for murdered women. It is always arresting to be reminded of the shocking violence that needlessly ends women's lives at the hands of men. You keep everyone focused by example.

It's lovely to have you here on Mumset.

MrsFogi · 29/09/2018 21:19

You are amazing Jean - a legend in these parts! Thank you for all your work for womankind.
As others have said MN should not be neglected in the efforts to increase awareness of the issues due to the fact that so many women stumble across a random thread and have their eyes opened.....

pombear · 29/09/2018 21:25

Jean, your talk yesterday was mesmerising, powerful, inspiring, strong, to the point, and hard-hitting.

You reminded me to keep putting my boots on, in the ways I can, and to not betray women who need others' voices at a time when they may not be able to speak.

You should definitely be proud of the woman's story you read out yesterday. You are reaching many.

Cheers to you too, woman! x

SandyDrawsBadly · 29/09/2018 21:47

It was so lovely to meet you yesterday though after so much gin, I think I was babbling by the time I spoke to you.
I’ve been a mumsnetter for donkeys years and it’s a bastion of women who take no shit, so hooray for that!

EmpressAdultHumanFemale · 29/09/2018 21:51

You're an amazing woman, Jean, and you're always welcome here x

MrsBodger · 29/09/2018 21:56

ThanksThanksThanksThanks

For my best friend.

I think you're amazing.

miketv · 29/09/2018 22:24

@Jeanhatchet - I was really moved by all you said yesterday. I knew I admired what you did from posts/links to twitter on here (this is my feminist "safe place" where I can figure out what I think) but you blew me away with your answers to panel questions as well as your prepared speech.

Thanks for coming to talk despite having had such a sad day.

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 29/09/2018 22:26

Hi Jean

I am not on and have never been on Twitter. I am only aware of all this, and you, from MN. Very very proud of you

ToeToToe · 29/09/2018 22:58

Jean, you were fantastic. I couldn't be there in person, but I watched live, and I'm in awe of your bravery, your resilience and your straight talking on behalf of all women (even the ones who don't agree with us).

InWomensProtection · 29/09/2018 23:26

I’m very emotional tonight dam my bloody pmt hormones and you lovely people for continuing to stand up.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you do.

Few days ago I sat sobbing questioning my failings as a parent. As I had to shut down all social media and request removal of my existence from websites following attack on my family due to me speaking up.

It honestly felt like I was back in that abusive relationship questioning my own sainty that perhaps they was right and I should admit defeat.

I’m so glad I still lurked as today has given me hope and even though I hiding behind a alais to protect my family I have a voice again.

So thank you for speaking up for all those who have been made scared to do so.

Crap I’m so pmt emotional. Sorry for soppy post.

Anlaf thanks for posting the link to the talk, such bloody inspiring, fearless women!

nicenewdusters · 30/09/2018 07:55

Jean just been reading about your bike rides for the first time. I am overwhelmed with admiration for you. Women like you are the very definition of hope.

dianebrewster · 30/09/2018 08:42

Another big fan here Jean, we do occasionally interact on that there Twitter, but this is Home for me. It's where the lovely, patient, women unpicked my naive trans ally stance, through facts, figures and sheer logic they got me to that WTF point.

Thank you for the very public, and gruelling, stance you take.

placemats · 30/09/2018 10:03

It was lovely to meet you on Friday. You looked fabulous and your speech moved me to tears.

One of the best night's out I've had in ages!
