Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

What would we like Posie to say on TV/radio

Much as we all cheer from the sidelines just thought we could do something constructive and think of a particular nugget, which we think might be helpful for Posie to say (if of course she chooses to.)
It really resonated with me when she previously said, does my 11 yr old daughter have the right to not see a penis in the womens changing room? That is the reality of having male bodies in female spaces....anyone have anything further to add? Some of the TV interviews are stacked against her-a few short points might help other people understand. I totally get she is her own person & brilliant-but perhaps we can help in some small way.

Most trans women have functioning male genitals

The transaction activists who want us to call them women are overwhelmingly the ones who have a penis and do not think that gender dysphoria is a mental illness

If you believe on sex segregation then youuse segregate on what genitals someone has

I think we should just stop nagging the poor woman and leave her to say whatever she wants.

happydappy2 · 28/09/2018 16:25

Not intended to be nagging at all-I have huge respect for her-just trying to help as she has a platform.

What makes you think there is any detail of all this she doesn't know?

Dragon3 · 28/09/2018 16:31

Posie's 'does my 11 year old daughter' talk really resonated with me too.

But I also think that she should be left alone to get on with being herself in the media. Her natural lack of contrivance is what makes her message effective. We can support her if we want by sharing and liking her talks. And by speaking out ourselves.

Posie has done an excellent job so far. I’d leave her to it.

And when she’s done well erect a Posie statue outside Parliament.

Yes agree that was really powerful and I peak transed my brother with a similar comment.

Ereshkigal · 28/09/2018 16:33

But yes I agree she doesn't need any help knowing what to say and is doing an excellent job.

BitterAndOnlySlightlyTwisted · 28/09/2018 16:39

I don't think the awesome Posie needs any help from us at all. She obviously understands the issues completely and is patently bright and articulate enough to get them across given half a chance. The only possible fly in the ointment would be the interviewers/other guests, and there's not much anyone could do about that.

heresyandwitchcraft · 28/09/2018 16:39

Posie Parker should say whatever she wants. That's the whole point of her campaign. Free Speech. She's smart, eloquent, gives no fucks and will not be bullied.

NewWomensMovement · 28/09/2018 16:39

Yes, I think it is confusing to try to get her to say everything. She is very adept at pulling out the right example or statistic on the fly and it makes her come across well. If she started along the road of trying to get her 'key points' in, she wouldn't listen so well, pause, respond and come across as naturally as she does now.

Also, perhaps some other people can grow a pair (something I'm not actually prepared to do) and start getting into the media along side her instead of all the 'helpful' suggestions which will end up contradicting each-other and could cause a paralysis if she actually took them on.

Also, I think some things have moved on between now and the 'my daughter' comments.

Please do not become a broken record bore Posie! You are amazing. You come across exactly as you are. A normal woman who has become a reluctant activist because of an injustice you cannot allow to unfold on your watch. It is powerful.
