www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/labour-activists-join-feminists-to-oppose-self-id-policy-change_uk_5baaaf19e4b0f101d383a4ef

In an inflammatory speech, Masoud said: “Constantly, we see the faux lefties and the Islington elite of the British media tell us women we are transphobic, that we are out of step, that we are scaremongering.”

“They try and school us on what it means to be a woman, so desperate are these woke folk journalists to pander to the alphabet soup of gender politics that feminists like myself only use the Guardian now to line our kitty litter tray.

“Of course, the likes of little Owen Jones, or as I like to call him Talcum X, lecture us and tell us we women are on the wrong side of history.

“Let me tell you this, Owen, the wrong side of history is staying silent on your keyboard as a male sex offender is allowed to be put in a female prison and allowed to rape women.”

Talcum X Shock

scepticalwoman · 26/09/2018 14:06

That's a good report - and I like the fact that it quotes OJ as it demonstrates that all views should be heard (something that Harrop twerp repeatedly misses)

AspieAndProud · 26/09/2018 14:12

I've heard Black Lives Matter activist Shaun King referred to as Talcum X based on doubts about his black heritage and his false claim to have been racially assaulted.

“Let me tell you this, Owen, the wrong side of history is staying silent on your keyboard as a male sex offender is allowed to be put in a female prison and allowed to rape women.”

Beautifully put. Fuck off, Owen, with your woke bullshit.

Redkeyboard · 26/09/2018 14:23

Good article which actually outlines women's concerns. Agree all voices should be heard. Not sure about the OJ baiting being helpful but otherwise some great, passionate points being made.

Debbie H's point about trans men and political representation gave me pause for thought. Would like to know how Emily Thornberry would respond to that.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 26/09/2018 14:25

“Know this, Labour, we will not let you throw away over 100 years of women’s suffrage just so you can indulge the gender identity mafia.
“I’ll say this until the day I die, we women are not going anywhere. We are strong, resilient, loud. We are mothers, we are firefighters, we are trade unionists, we are firefighters and we are party members – and you ignore us at your peril.”

Bravo Lucy. And Emily, fuck right off with your 'calm down and move over'. Women's rights are not yours to hand over.

Trousered · 26/09/2018 14:27

And Emily, fuck right off with your 'calm down and move over'. Women's rights are not yours to hand over

Agree completely.

FloralBunting · 26/09/2018 14:32

I hadn't seen Emily Thornberry's comment about the debate being aggressive and women needing to step it down a bit. WTAF? She might as well have said 'Women, know your place'

nauticant · 26/09/2018 14:41

I read put in a female prison and allowed to rape women as saying that Karen White raped women in prison. As far as I know this isn't what happened. Even so, lots of different people are saying this is what happened.

Even though it'll make me look like a pedant I think it's best to keep clearly to the known facts.

Igneococcus · 26/09/2018 14:57

Times has a story about Thornberry telling Labour to relax a bit about trans women:

TerfsUp · 26/09/2018 15:02

Fuck off, Emily Thornberry, and your woke bullshit.

Fallingirl · 26/09/2018 15:28

So what happened at the Labour Women’s conference re self-id? They were going to discuss it, weren’t they?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 26/09/2018 15:39

I read put in a female prison and allowed to rape women as saying that Karen White raped women in prison. As far as I know this isn't what happened. Even so, lots of different people are saying this is what happened White admitted it... I am sure I have read that somewhere... lots of somewheres as I recall... reports detailing White having been in court at the time... here's just one from the myriad of google hits...

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/sep/09/sexual-assaults-in-womens-prison-reignite-debate-over-transgender-inmates-karen-white

Not being a pedant, but Google really can be your friend!

nauticant · 26/09/2018 15:55

I wasn't able to find in that Guardian report a statement that White had raped a woman in a women's prison.

I have no problem being wrong over this but I get uncomfortable when unsubstantiated "truths" become "facts".

CuriousaboutSamphire · 26/09/2018 16:17

OK... so Sexual assaults in the headline and in the body of the text.

We don't have details... but if you wish to quibble about the extent of a sexualised physical assault by a man on multiple women, inside the women's estate, go for it!

nauticant · 26/09/2018 16:24

The more untruths that creep into the gender critical sides' argument the more it can be undermined. I think winning the argument overall is more important than being righteous and factually wrong.

MrsTerryPratchett · 26/09/2018 16:24

Karen White admitted to two sexual assaults inside and was accused of others. That's at least two too many.

MrsTerryPratchett · 26/09/2018 16:25

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/sep/09/sexual-assaults-in-womens-prison-reignite-debate-over-transgender-inmates-karen-white

In the Guardian no less. Bastion of women's rights Hmm

CuriousaboutSamphire · 26/09/2018 16:27

The more untruths that creep into the gender critical sides' argument the more it can be undermined. But sometimes quibbling sounds like excusercising.

You know White didn't rape he just sort of pawed at them a bit, never mind! The point is incontrovertible... a man committed 2 sexual assaults whilst insisting he was a woman... and the reason he was in prison in the first place was, erm, rape!

FloralBunting · 26/09/2018 16:28

'big-hearted' feminism has room for men who think they're women.

Isn't the English language amazing? So many different ways to tell women to be nice.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 26/09/2018 16:33

You are right, Floral... I must go back to this song again and again, learn my place

ErrolTheDragon · 26/09/2018 16:41

Emily Thornberry: '“Sometimes people say ‘What about women’s shortlists?’ There’s going to be a whole load of men turning up in dresses. Really?”' ... underneath a photo of Sophie Cook with Jeremy Corbyn snuggled up, simpering is the only word I can think to describe him.

TerfsUp · 26/09/2018 19:50

I agree with nauticant. All rapes are sexual assaults but not all sexual assaults are rapes. White sexually assaulted female prisoners but did not rape them. Words matter.

MrsTerryPratchett · 26/09/2018 20:56

Make no mistake though. Karen White is a rapist.

WomanAKAAdultHumanFemale · 27/09/2018 08:45

No one is disputing that. What nauticant said - and I agree - is that White did not rape women while in prison.
