BBC Complaint - response delayed (V Derbyshire/T Hudson) ***MNHQ edited for accuracy***

I'm one of many who complained to the BBC about the Victoria Derbyshire show when Tara Hudson decided to give viewers the finger/mouth fuck off (or similar).

I complained on the basis of Tara Hudson's offensive behaviour; but also because they are so biased and known to be aggressive, and that BBC did an exceedingly poor job of selecting a representative of the trans community to appear on this show

ANYWAY. That was then. I've just had an email saying it's taking longer than they hoped to look into my complaint and they apologise for the delay.

Are they falling over themselves to try and craft some suitable excuse or just thinking of a polite way to tell me to fuck off?

EMAIL TEXT:

This is an update to let you know that we had referred your complaint to the relevant people and regret that it may take a little longer before we can reply. Please do not contact us in the meantime.

Although we reply to most complaints within 2 weeks we cannot achieve this every time. It depends on what your complaint was about and how many others we are handling, or may sometimes be due to more practical issues. For example a production team may already be working on another programme or have gone on location.

Please don’t reply to this email because it’s sent from an account which can’t receive replies. If you do need to get in touch, please use our webform instead at www.bbc.co.uk/complaints, quoting your reference number.

For full details of our complaints process please visit: www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/handle-complaint/.

In the meantime thank you for contacting us - we appreciate your patience.

Kind regards

BBC Complaints Team

Did Paris less also do that on victoria Derbyshire, I thought it was the ex trans prisoner who was debating with nic Williams.

Melamin · 18/09/2018 17:23

Yes the other Paris ...Geen? Oh no it was a Tara

GulagMilkMonitor · 18/09/2018 17:23

I’ve had the exact same email re Tara thingy, the ex-prisoner who was moved to the female estate.

Melamin · 18/09/2018 17:23

Hudson

ShotsFired · 18/09/2018 17:25

Agh apologies all, I got my faces and names mixed up.

It was Tara Hudson, NOT Paris Lees. Apologies for accidental besmirchment to PL.

Will be interesting to see what they eventually come back to you with-the tide is definitely turning & peoples eyes are being opened to what has been going on.

Elephantinacravat · 18/09/2018 17:41

You did say Tara Hudson on the email rather than Paris Lees yes? I was thinking, gosh I missed that one!

Well done for putting in your complaint though, it was totally unacceptable behaviour from TH.

VickyEadie · 18/09/2018 17:42

I'd get your thread title etc changed, OP.

ShotsFired · 18/09/2018 17:50

Thanks MNHQ for editorial by the thread title!

It is looking like woman's hour will be covering the suggested changes to the GRA eventually, in October, (before the 19th??????? close to the wire or what?)

ShotsFired · 19/09/2018 20:28

Their response is as follows. It's a bit of a non-response but I wasn't expecting anything more (not sure why it took them so long to come up with it, either).

"All the guests were involved as they could each bring a different viewpoint and experience to the debate, but we regret any offence resulting from Tara’s actions. We took steps to ensure that her offensive hand gesture was removed from the BBC iPlayer version of the broadcast. We welcome viewer feedback on suitability of guests, but feel that her experiences in prison were relevant to the topic under discussion."
