OK so they didn't literally say that but they might have well as

The picture is priceless. Who thought this image was appropriate? You have to admit the optics ain't great.

"Putting transphobia in the bin where it belongs @fairplaywomen . Spreading this vile discrimination at Lib Dem conference, a place where we 100% fully support trans rights, is a disgrace."

According to their twitter bio they think they are fighting against authoritarianism. Hmm

BettyDuMonde · 18/09/2018 14:33

Sean Anstee similarly ‘popped’ Andy Burnham’s mayoral campaign literature in the bin in this awful Sean for Mayor ad:

m.youtube.com/watch?v=H8uyI97JrT0

Didn’t work out too well for him, he got an absolute trouncing:

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_Manchester_mayoral_election,_2017

Looking forward to seeing history repeat itself.

RedToothBrush · 18/09/2018 14:41

Yes well you might want to look at the leadership of the young liberals, the radical association and their close ties to LDLGBT.

Nutshell - same problem as the Green Party. Its a small cliche who bully faces who don't fit out.

At some point we'll be talking about the names...

AngryAttackKittens · 18/09/2018 14:42

Not really subtle imagery, is it? I suppose at least this time they're not claiming there are any hidden razor blades.

VickyEadie · 18/09/2018 15:06

I don't do Twitter, but someone who does might feasibly tweet them and ask if their 100% support for trans "rights" includes the right of convicted rapist and paedophile transwomen to be placed in women's prisons, especially ones with mother and baby units.

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 18/09/2018 15:46

The Young Liberals certainly seem well connected to individuals in what might be described as the trans militant wing of the Green party. A couple of prolific Twitter accounts spend a great deal more time agreeing cross-party than they do with the grown-up members of their own.

One of them is constantly telling women to get in the bin (when he's not telling them to get in the sea).

R0wantrees · 18/09/2018 16:57

What is it with the 'get in the sea' comment?
Sarah Brown is often saying this.

pancaketosser · 18/09/2018 16:59

Have they realised that telling women to die in a fire is a teeny bit like "she's a witch, burn her"?

(she turned me into a newt...)

R0wantrees · 18/09/2018 17:00

Young Liberals are putting in the bin a Guide leader who has expressed serious safeguarding concerns for the girls in her care.

These concerns are shared by a number of other Guide Leaders and many parents.

THis is not a good look at all. Its not liberal and not democratic.

sanitywhatsanity · 18/09/2018 17:03

It's a shame that Jo Swinton was on Woman’s hour today trying to make the case that her party are going for the moderates and women. I like her (plus her baby is only 7 weeks younger than mine) but they're really not for moderates and women!

theOtherPamAyres · 18/09/2018 17:03

The Lib Dems are in the same position as the Green Party was two years ago. Both parties needs young recruits and so both parties indulge them.

The Young Labs-LibDems-Green run their own sub-party and they run Twitter accounts in the name of the main party - but have no accountability or responsibility. Instead they are fawned over and a blind eye turns, or a shrug of the shoulders greets any criticism.

There is a cross-over with the young in party LBGTQwerts. Most of them weren't around when the battles for gay men and lesbians had to be fought, and have only known jolly Pride festivals and trans activism.

In actual fact, Young members ought to be concentrating on policies that affect the young - and that includes children, fgm, forced marriages, safeguarding and things like the rise of sexual assaults in schools, the gig economy etc.

They ought to know more about the problems and need for policies around children and teens growing up in the UK. They need to steer clear of policies that affect adult human females, in my opinion.

It's about time that they were given some leadership and direction rather than letting them flounder about, making the parties look unelectable and stupid.

Get a grip, you wusses in the Lib Dems.

BiologyMatters · 18/09/2018 17:17

Just imagine if the photo showed a man's hand putting women's rights in the bin. The message is the same whether it's a male or a female hand.

R0wantrees · 18/09/2018 17:34

from the Fairplay for Women leaflet:

"My name is Helen Watts. I’m a unit leader with Girlguiding. I’ve been involved in Guiding throughout my life, as a child and adult.

Being a leader is a huge privilege and a big responsibility. Parents trust us to take their on sleepovers and camps. All residentials are based on the principle of informed parental consent. As leaders, we are expected to be open and honest at all times. All adult volunteers undertake safeguarding training. As anyone who’s undertaken child protection training knows, we never promise a child confidentiality. Girlguiding does not tell parents and girls, even in the most general terms, that facilities are no longer single sex.

Despite no change in the law, membership of Girlguiding is based on the principle of self identity. Boys who identify as girls are treated as any other girl when it comes to residentials. The transgirl – who still has the physical body of a boy, and who the girls may have known as a boy until recently – is entitled to use the same sleeping, changing and washing spaces as the other girls, if they choose, and the other girls are not given a choice. Girlguiding say that any member can request more private accommodation – but how will they know to ask if they are unaware that they may be placed in mixed sex facilities? Self identity also applies to adult leaders.

I oppose gender self identity because it breaches the most basic safeguarding principles. It undermines privacy and dignity and denies women and girls a choice. It also reinforces stereotypes: if being a girl is not based on biological sex, then what is it? Is it about how you dress, what you call yourself, how you behave? Is it a feeling? Women’s groups, including Girlguiding, have spent years challenging these stereotypes which limit girls’ aspirations and choices – Girlguiding’s annual Girls Attitude survey details how girls as young as 7 are negatively affected – and yet now membership reinforces these very same stereotypes. If gender self-identity is enshrined in law, it will limit all children, but it will have the most negative impact on girls."

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 18/09/2018 18:43

What little charmers! Well I know of several 'terfs' in the party - all of whom are probably far more useful than the little squirts. I would also add that they don't seem to understand what their own party actually stands for if they think that being opposed to women's rights and free speech is in any way liberal!

NothingOnTellyAgain · 18/09/2018 18:47

TERFS and in the bin =

Women who say hold on a minute at men convicted of sex crimes against women and girls being locked in with women and girls.

Do they see the women in prison as "in the bin" and this is how they justify these actions?

I know on the other thread the idea was TWAW and women are violent too and commit sex offences (let's ignore the stats around how many) and so any man who says "I'm a woman" should be moved to the women's prison (incorporating YOI / mother and baby unit) immediately and it's up for the prison service to manage the risk that some of the "women" present to other women.

There was also the point that if you dont' want to be locked in a ceel with a much bigger person with a dick and a criminal conviction/s for violenct sex offences then you shoudldn't commit any crime.

These people hate women. Make no mistake. Put them in the bin. Burn them etc. Not the new special ones obviosly just the old style cunty ones who have a problem with this stuff.

they can fuck off I am so angry now.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 18/09/2018 18:48

TWAW are women that should say.

And so any man who says he's a woman should be locked in with the women immediately.

Incarcerated male sex offenders will be watching this with extreme interest.

Tellin · 18/09/2018 19:01

I have yet to hear an argument for trans rights that isn't also rampant misogyny. As far as I'm aware - and happy to be corrected - the only 'rights' trans people currently don't have is they are unable to get married or claim their pension in the sex they identify as without a GRC. They can of course access these as their biological sex so no service/freedom is actually denied to them.

I'm not sure riding rough-shod over women's rights/screaming no debate/telling us we must believe TWAW/claiming transphobia at every attempt to discuss gender is the way to achieve wider social acceptance of the trans population.

BettyDuMonde · 18/09/2018 19:14

‘Terf’ is the new ‘Feminazi’.

I don’t suppose they even know who Rush Limbaugh is - they should probably swot up a bit because a) they sound just like him and b) he’s definitely not a liberal.

AngryAttackKittens · 18/09/2018 19:24

I'm not sure riding rough-shod over women's rights/screaming no debate/telling us we must believe TWAW/claiming transphobia at every attempt to discuss gender is the way to achieve wider social acceptance of the trans population.

It's a great way of turning former allies into implacable opponents, though.

theOtherPamAyres · 18/09/2018 19:35

They are going to have a problem with their belief system when "far left" politicians like Caroline Lucas (Green) and John McDonnell (Labour) have already been meeting with WPUK and, in John McDonnell's case, have confirmed a date for a meeting with another women's group.

I wonder if McDonnell will be subject to a 'pile on' from Labour TRAs ?

theOtherPamAyres · 18/09/2018 19:46

Some picks from the tweets:

If you find yourself in a place where you are defending the right of rapists and sex offenders to transfer to a women's prison you need to ask yourself how you got to that place and where you took a wrong turn

On the other hand, from a confused and mixed-up ignoramus:

"This isn’t misogyny. It’s called calling out manipulative transphobic literature trying to disguise itself as feminist. The agenda being promoted it what’s narrow minded and also mysogynistic towards trans women (who are women btw end of)." Hmm

And on a brighter note:

So safeguarding for girls is 'vile discrimination' now? As a father to daughters I'll remember that next time I'm in the voting booth. And I'll be sure to spread the message that trans feelings are more important to Lib Dems than girls' physical safety.

and finally:

Nice to see lib dems are showing their true allegiance to paedophiles and child abuse. Your support of pornographers and pimps is also telling. What a hill to die on.
