He is on remand, and is apparently being held in Cornton Vale, a women's prison in Stirling.

Oh my god I’m not easily rattled but he is terrifying looking. The thought of being locked up with him is unbearable. I really hope that’s not true.

The fact that he's a sex pest in neither here nor there, as I understand it with the rules as they stand, he does belong in a woman's prison.

Living as female in England does not mean you have to be treated as female in all Cicumstances, or indeed in any circumstance , where sex is a protected characteristic, unlike gender identity.

Even with the protected characteristic of gender reassignment ( formal process ) in England it would be allowed to treat the person as male rather than female, although then there would be a requirement to have a strong reason.

Well not under the prison protocol, under the prison protocol if you have a GRC or are even in the process of applying for one, then you have an unrefutable right to women's prison. Rights under the Equality Act etc. are essentially irrelevant, because there are a set of specific guidelines they follow for prisons.

Thing is even if he doesn't actually sexually assault women whilst he's in there, to be a male intact pervert being locked in with vulnerable women, sharing showers etc .... Well it's not much of a punishment is it really? But for those women even to have to interact with the creep and have to call him by female pronouns whilst knowing exactly what he is.... I suspect the problem there is that the term transgender has gone from medically determined condition , where the law and generals approach of kindness is (perhaps) appropriate to a way of life and a movement , so the law is often being ignored or misinterpreted . Many people are totally ignorant of the differences.

Female offenders against women and girls are put in women's prisons. I agree the likes of Karen West clearly should not be put in a women's prison, but you can't make women's prison free of sexual predators.
