Fairplay for women - incredibly successful campaign, could they do more?

apparently the campaign material has been flying off the shelves. i ordered mine a week ago and haven't received it yet due to the level of demand.

i understand that they have started a further fund raising campaign to do more. they're 20% of the way to their target already

obviously i won't link here as fundraising on MN would get the thread deleted

but if you google fairplay for women crowdfunder it's among the top results if you are interested

any stories of campaigning you'd like to share? I won't be able to do it until next week now

I've been waiting a couple of weeks for my packs as I gather demand is high. I've also donated.

I'm proud of their work and Nic is such an excellent spokesperson.

I want to thank them and everybody who us campaigning hard.

It's not fair play when you look.at what Stonewall and all those lobby groups receive to tear up women's rights.

Keep up the good work - looking forward to leafleting soon.

£2k now Smile I'm thrilled by how this has taken off.

I think the on-the-street personal touch is making a huge difference. The only other thing I could think of would be newspaper ads or billboards like the one in Liverpool? I don't think you get that connection, though.

I wonder how much it costs to advertise on Mumsnet. Though I suspect it would be considered political.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 15/09/2018 22:21

Yes, the total on the new crowdfunder just keeps rising so quickly. There’s a lot of support out there

They're nearly at a quarter of the target in a day!!

It's a great campaign.

GulagMilkMonitor · 16/09/2018 00:29

I wonder if it is possible for them to provide a PDF printable for a cost?

GulagMilkMonitor · 16/09/2018 00:30

I handed out copies of James Kirkup’s latest piece at my DD’s football match this morning. No one had heard about this and they were all shocked.

Movablefeast · 16/09/2018 03:57

Slightly off topic could Fair Play to Women or one of the other Gender Critical UK organizations be replicated in other countries (chapters for example) and become international? I ask because I live abroad and have discovered a number of GC women who read mumsnet in my region. Or is this something that already exists? I just want to raise the GC profile before we are all swamped by this (trans ideology) nonsense.

Stilettosandan0venglove · 16/09/2018 06:51

It's an absolutely brilliant campaign. Everyone I have given leaflets to has been shocked, and interested in finding out more. Fair Play have done a massive amount already and on a shoestring. I will donate again, to help them do even more. They already have exciting plans for the extra cash!

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 16/09/2018 07:48

They've raised £2375 in 17 hours from 87 supporters.

it's a real grass roots campaign (it's called hands off my rights and can be found quite easily on the crowdfunder website if you'd like to check out the stats your self).

in stark contrast to trans allies who can afford to spunk £14K up the wall sending Dawn Butler to the GLAAD awards in LA

which i'm sure was a total waste of money as there's no way she'd let something like that affect her decision making

OP posts:
wheretoevenbegin · 16/09/2018 11:30

Google #HandsOffMyRights Crowdfunder to get the correct crowdfunder at the top of the results.

wheretoevenbegin · 16/09/2018 11:33

£2,725 now from 102 supporters.

Already a quarter of the way to the target.

The last one was double the target, I reckon this one's going to be pretty healthy too. 100% of the money goes on campaigning, so the more we put in, the more people get to hear about the consultation.

Most people don't agree with SelfID - but they' don't know about it.

Stilettosandan0venglove · 16/09/2018 20:34

£3,860 now!

AbsintheFriends · 16/09/2018 21:05

Thanks for the reminder. Just donated.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 16/09/2018 21:19

woah, they're nearly at £4K now!

the average donation is £30

these are not rich people funding this

it's ordinary, every day people who feel strongly enough to put their hand in their pocket

YY to this.

I earn about £15k (part time, to fit with school hours). I have two kids and no savings at all. I could do with a new wardrobe and a haircut but it's never the top priority.

But I'm going to put £20 in come payday and I've been out handing out flyers.

This is important. I know that £20 I put in will by hundreds of flyers, and each of them could mean another person finding out about this and standing against it.

bzzbeebzz · 16/09/2018 21:53

Donated

Thanks for not reminding me

wheretoevenbegin · 16/09/2018 21:56

So close to £4K!

EmpressAdultHumanFemale · 16/09/2018 22:02

£4,020! They're doing brilliantly!

I've been out leafleting too. People are really receptive.

Beautifulday49 · 16/09/2018 22:09

I got my pack last week, but don't know any other GC people in my area (north Lancs) so am just going to give the flyers & cards out when I can, e.g. at work. I was at an exhibition thing yesterday and gave one to an older woman on 1 of the stands. It was my little bit of fightback & felt great. The materials/campaign are excellent & I will donate again when I can.

Voice0fReason · 16/09/2018 22:53

Will make a donation tomorrow.
They are doing an amazing job

Stilettosandan0venglove · 17/09/2018 09:11

Beautiful well done, that sounds like a great plan. I've been sharing the campaign with friends, family and acquaintances, and they've all been really receptive. And lots have gone on to share with other people, and the information spreads...
