How, in the name of all that is holy, can Sophie Walker sit there and even dare to start talking about women's needs and the problems we face, when she has sold us so far up the Woke River she's gone past the source!

I shouldn't be this angry on a Sunday morning.

“The government is expecting women to drop out of work to prop up a no-deal or a bad deal. Sorry boys, not on my watch.”

Oh bless- as if anyone cares what Sophie Walker thinks.

Angry, bitter, and duped as I feel about Sophie Walker, somebody has to discuss the implications of Brexit for women.

It's not as if sitting women MPs are doing a bang up job of it. Jess Phillips, Stella Creasey - looking at you.

Juells · 09/09/2018 10:39

She's made her priorities clear, so I don't know why she says "Sorry boys..."

ShrodingersSturdyPyjamas · 09/09/2018 10:43

Define 'women's needs' Sophie.

Define 'women' first though.

Juells · 09/09/2018 10:59

Without mentioning feelings.

ShotsFired · 09/09/2018 17:16

Define "boys" too, while you're at it.

I wouldn't get too excited.

What is her actual position on this? I know that originally she was all TWAW, but then I thought she changed a bit and became more GC, and she has now just said that they had a 'respectful debate' at the WEP conference about the GRA changes.

But yeah, Sophie, if you care about women, you MUST speak out about a policy in prisons that allows violent and dangerous males to gain access to and assault very vulnerable women. Women who are already likely to be DV victims, part of the care-system, and very marginalised. The majority of whom are there for non-violent offences (not that it would matter- NO woman should be placed in a prison with a biological male).

ShotsFired · 09/09/2018 18:06

She's as much a snake as Jess Phillips is.

She's already thrown women under the bus. This just feels like she's dragging us out while keeping one foot on the accelerator for another go.

What is the oft-touted line on MN? "When someone shows you who they really are, believe them".

I think Jess is having slight second thoughts. Saw some tweet this morning about the Karen White case and how it might actually be rather important to safeguard vulnerable women's rights (oooh, who'd have thunk it eh, Jess?)
Presumably she will be excommunicated soon and the mob will want her head on a stick.

IAmLurkacus · 09/09/2018 18:36

Did ‘Cheryl’ just confirm they know damn well that TWANW and that they’ve lost in the court of public opinion?

BabySharkDoododoo · 09/09/2018 19:09

I wouldn't get too excited.

Oh I take it from that that the debate on this is not happening? I was reading a few people on twitter who were saying they would block the emergency motion or whatever it was.
