Why does this survey ask for the participant's gender, rather than sex?

Because most people don't realise there's a difference?

Because people will put whatever they want regardless of what word they use?

Because it's only a vague guide anyway?

I think some people thing Sex is a dirty word.

Come on NHS. You have learned Biology and all that shit!

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 04/09/2018 06:43

Tbh I've just done the test, once using female and then using male. Made a whole difference of 1 🤷🏼‍♀️

Witchofwisteria · 04/09/2018 07:07

What's the problem with using the word gender?

(Throws grenade, runs away)

redshoeblueshoe · 04/09/2018 08:37

Well it does explain that if you are transgender you should put the sex you were born. But the test is crap.

wallyfeatures · 04/09/2018 08:39

precisely LadybirdsAreBirds . What a load of bollocks! Your sex is a biological fact and is what is relevant to the survey.

I noticed that. I though it was a load of toffee, it completely ignored exercise which is a massive part of how healthy a heart is. I’m surprised that a survey using actual biology managed to get so much wrong in so little space.

Until recently, asking for gender instead if sex was totally uncontroversial. It was because people were squeamish about putting 'sex' on an official form. There was that old joke: Sex? Yes please.
