I hear on the grapevine this will take place September 25. Go Woman's Place UK! Not the official Labour fringe but right on the doorstep.

Is it going to be barricaded by woke bearded types who think they are left wing?

Charliethefeminist · 27/08/2018 17:03

Hope the Liverpool Resistance is ready Grin

The woke beardy dudes will be aflame with righteous indignation

This could be fun Grin

Last year the Laura Kuennsberg (the BBC political editor) had to have her own security at the Labour conference because of threats. This year there are worries about the safety of Jewish MPs at conference. Presumably, given the proven history of abuse, intimidation and violence that the TRAs / mysogynists on the left have aimed at women meeting to discuss the erosion of women's rights and the safeguarding of children, there will be a real need for effective security?

And all this from a party allegedly hoping for power Sad

UpstartCrow · 27/08/2018 17:22

Any confrontation they provoke would be out on the street in front of the cameras, and involve a load of angry blokes and a bunch of women handing out biscuits.

SturdyEarmuffs · 27/08/2018 17:27

Where is this? Is it a closed door/labour only members meeting with WPUK or a WPUK meeting right beside labour conference?

NameChangedAgain18 · 27/08/2018 17:28

And all this from a party allegedly hoping for power

Quite. This is the number one issue that is stopping me from voting Labour. The bullying, silencing, threats and intimidation. What kind of party needs security at its conferences to protect journalists from its members, and to protect its members from each other? It’s an utter disgrace.

Charliethefeminist · 27/08/2018 17:28

It's like a normal WPUK meeting I think.

Sad Good point, tiredandweary. What a terrible state of affairs for the Labour party to be in, when a BBC journalist, Jewish people and women are have to think about their security when attending a political conference. Be careful, ladies...

On a lighter note:
Thank you WPUK Star! Feminist champions, courageously & tirelessly defending women's rights! Congrats on getting the message out there! Cheers Gin Wine

Charliethefeminist · 27/08/2018 17:28

So we can all go.

tiredandweary · 27/08/2018 17:29

UpstartCrow
So do you think they'll forego blocking the entrance / stairs and leave the masked men, the dogs, and the violence at home?? Confused . How on earth will they get their views across??? Grin

tiredandweary · 27/08/2018 17:32

Wait... I know .......they'll photograph all attendees and contact their employers asking for them to be sacked. Phew - I was worried that they might have to engage in actual democratic debate for a change.

PyeWackets · 27/08/2018 17:35

Should invite Jess Bradley and Stella Creasy, hell, all of them. Let them come and listen.

PersistAunt · 27/08/2018 17:38

As there will be about 5000 international journalists there, they may just feel a bit constrained. Not promising though.
.

PersistAunt · 27/08/2018 17:39

I just tweeted Jess Philips to suggest she pops over to Coventry and chats to people on the street there.
.

SturdyEarmuffs · 27/08/2018 17:46

I can't see anything on WPUK twitter a/c - do you have a link OP?

Needmoresleep · 27/08/2018 17:48

What is the WPUK link with labour?

I would be interested in attending, but couldn't do Blair and can't do Corbyn.

Charliethefeminist · 27/08/2018 18:37

It's not officially announced yet but will be

OP posts:
IAMcorbyndallas · 27/08/2018 18:38

I am so there!

athingeveryoneneeds · 27/08/2018 19:07

It's not officially announced yet but will be

Then why are you discussing it here? Presumably they aren't announcing it yet due to the climate of violence surrounding these meetings, and you've now given the TRAs a significant head start in mobilising opposition? Why didn't you just wait until the official announcement was made?

placemats · 27/08/2018 19:16

Wow! I may go.

Liverpool is a big place but suggesting it's next door to the conference is bad form.

WarmWishes · 27/08/2018 19:19

Me too. Interested in hearing more.

HavingALittleBabyToolshed · 27/08/2018 19:32

Why are you announcing it?
I hope WPUK have been left with time to sort out their security etc. now.

Charliethefeminist · 28/08/2018 22:03

Bump: announced on Twitter! Vamos!
