Hmm what is this gaslighting crap ?

silentcrow · 23/08/2018 23:46

Well, there's a product I won't be buying. Can't support science denial.

bd67th · 23/08/2018 23:50

reinforce the idea that women, the ~inherently weaker~ sex, needed a special place to themselves for safety

Because we do! We are inherently physically weaker and we can get pregnant from rape. Gaslighting bullshit.

Voice0fReason · 23/08/2018 23:51

Great job of marketing to their base.
I'm clearly not their target market.

Labradoodliedoodoo · 23/08/2018 23:54

So how is a period created? What imaginative means are used?

Writersblock2 · 23/08/2018 23:56

You know, at the start I was kinda getting it - women who later identify as trans would get periods, and it could be distressing. Get that. But then they hit the bollocks about science not being science and the bigotry shit. Nuh huh.

Sorry, not sorry. Keep politics away from your businesses, if you have any damn sense.

PositivelyPERF · 23/08/2018 23:59

What a complete load of pandering bullshit!

“Separate but equal” bathrooms were only introduced in the late 19th century to reinforce the idea that women, the ~inherently weaker~ sex, needed a special place to themselves for safety. This ideology continues today

So women don’t need protection from men and all the violence inflicted on them, by men, is made up, but trans men aren’t safe using public toilets, because they are under threat of violence. Away to fuck, you gaslighting, two faced, bunch of lying pricks.

SirVixofVixHall · 23/08/2018 23:59

bd67th yes. That bit was the thing that tipped me over the edge. As Writersblock says, it starts off just about acceptable, but then quickly degenerates into a mire of poo.

"In a world where menstruating and periods are almost exclusively linked to women's health......"

The world is so behind the times Hmm

SirVixofVixHall · 24/08/2018 00:01

And this is a company selling period pants, I was about to buy some for myself and dd.

“Noah, a 22-year-old assistant baker, suggests retail therapy if it’s within your means: “Do what you can to feel as manly as possible. You could wear your best, most stealthiest outfit or get yourself a haircut. Even buying a new cologne or a new (or first) binder can help!””

Hmm
bluechameleon · 24/08/2018 00:07

Cheeky wipes make period pants if you want to avoid this company. I haven't tried them so I don't know if they are good.

Angharad07 · 24/08/2018 00:16

I didn’t know what the fuss was about until I read to the end of that statement. The part regarding gendered bathrooms made me want to cry in vain as I honestly feel very threatened and vulnerable by the push to include men in women’s spaces. I don’t mind sharing bathrooms with transgender women but I don’t wan to be forced to use the same bathrooms as men by the creation of gender neutral bathrooms. I have had to use the women’s bathrooms on several occasions to escape intimidating men in clubs and bars- for some reason a sign on a bathroom door has more power in stopping such people than my own voice ever could. Unfortunately, we do live in a society where both women and trans people are vulnerable, however, why should the safety of one group trump the other? I’m afraid that I would never use a club/bar sponsoring gender neutral bathrooms as I would be too nervous to use such facilities.

SirVixofVixHall · 24/08/2018 00:26

Also the tone “take pantyliners with you “ “treat yourself” it is like something from Jackie magazine in the 70s, which makes me think this gaslighting is aimed at teenage girls. Angry

When the going gets tough the tough go shopping? Srsly?

SirVixofVixHall · 24/08/2018 00:29

Angharad, do you know that the vast majority of transwomen keep their penises ? Are therefore no different in any way from any other male person ?
Also that in the U.K., where over two women a WEEK are murdered by men, as a transwoman you are more likely to actually murder someone than to be a murderer ?

OP posts:
SirVixofVixHall · 24/08/2018 00:29

*than to be murdered. Sorry typo.

thebewilderness · 24/08/2018 00:30

These are not gender neutral loos and changing rooms. They are mixed sex loos and changing rooms.
"Replacing sex with gender is like replacing modern medicine with prayer."
Doing it to yourself is foolish but doing it to others is inexcusable.

Rebecca36 · 24/08/2018 00:40

What a shit article.

Bejazzled · 24/08/2018 00:50

"world where periods and menstruation are still almost exclusively tied to women’s health, it can be difficult to find the resources you need, or even feel comfortable enough to discuss what you’re going through."

Lol lol How do we cope with this outdated concept of biology !- how demented are these people?

Shampooeeee · 24/08/2018 04:21

I’ve seen a lot of their adverts recently and I noticed the “people who have periods” line. I wouldn’t buy anything from a company that erases the women from women’s health.

Juells · 24/08/2018 06:52

Stopped reading at "being loud and #periodproud".

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 24/08/2018 09:08

I thought the advice was good

But this bit in particular

Another myth that is commonly perpetuated by feminists who oppose trans rights is that biological sex cannot be argued with

The whole article is proving that biological sex cant be argued with

If you believe that you are man...then your biological sex is telling you that you are wrong

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 24/08/2018 09:10

I didnt read all of it

I realise i may have given the impression that i have

I only read the bits that apoeared helpful to someone with gender dysphoria

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 24/08/2018 09:11

You know, at the start I was kinda getting it - women who later identify as trans would get periods, and it could be distressing.

Writers said it better

bigKiteFlying · 24/08/2018 09:47

I've been looking at these products for DD1- (when money isn't quiet so tight so she has full choice) that's certaintly put me off that company- so thank you bluechameleon for suggesting cheekywipes.
