This is a really good watch. Crowder really knows his stuff. They debate the science on trans suicide, puberty blockers, desistance and trans brains. I have to comment that I have debated with Julie Rei as have other women on Twitter and JRG was a lot more polite and reasonable with Crowder.

OOOO. Wonder why it's not out as a podcast yet. Will hold off and can hopefully listen in the gym

speakingwoman · 20/08/2018 22:02

He is pro life and no feminist. But very smart.

Ereshkigal · 20/08/2018 22:22

Agree speaking.

From a guy who calls himself "Steel": "I mean...I was supposed to wait till 21 to have a beer but I should've been allowed make the life altering decision to stop puberty as a child?"

Plenty of people do get it.

speakingwoman · 21/08/2018 09:21

There are really nasty comments too. You never see that sort of thing here....

YesSirCowBoy · 21/08/2018 11:16

Calling James Intellectual dishonest, wow!

R0wantrees · 21/08/2018 11:32

Its extraordinary isn't it? Aside from which the claim to police and the mayor was hate crime.

I have seen someone suggesting environmental pollution and enquiring as to the nature of the glue etc used on the stickers put on the statues at Crosby beach though! Hmm

Ereshkigal · 21/08/2018 14:03

The thing I liked most was how scornful he was about most trans lobby data due to it being commissioned by organisations with a vested interest and being based on polls, questionnaires and interviews.

I don't agree with Crowder on some things, but he's an honest bod who employs a reasonable amount of critical thinking skills and occasionally tickles the funny bone in amongst the fratboy exuberance.

And as is so ably pointed out by others, it's possible for two people with differing views to agree on basic physical realities like the blue appearance of the sky, because the sky is, in fact, blue.

speakingwoman · 22/08/2018 17:40

He’s clever. I don’t know if he’s honest.

FloralBunting · 22/08/2018 19:40

I'm sure it's my naiveté showing here (that's not a snide comment) but my own understanding of Christianity, of which Crowder claims to be a part, is that honesty is fairly important.

But even as I'm writing that, I'm keenly aware of so, so, SO many Christians who don't live up to the billing, so yeah, you're probably right to put a question mark there.

speakingwoman · 22/08/2018 20:40

He’s a Christian? Gosh, he talks like Hitchens or Dawkins....

FloralBunting · 22/08/2018 20:43

Ah, yeah, but one of the Hitchens is a Christian himself, so there's that...Smile

Ereshkigal · 22/08/2018 22:52

Whether or not he is honest he's definitely super sharp.

I'm sure I disagree with him on probably everything else but he's totally on point on this.

You can say a great many things about Crowder, but you cannot accuse the man of showing up to a debate unprepared.

Ereshkigal · 23/08/2018 00:03

Indeed!

I don't agree with him on everything but I think he pretty smart, and it appears he is honest with facts as far as he knows them.

He's done an interesting video on fat women. And, as a fat woman, I must admit he does hit the nail on the head there (mostly)!

therealposieparker · 23/08/2018 02:59

I like Crowder a lot.

Italiangreyhound · 23/08/2018 11:19

Crowder is very funny.

I may be naive (I am a Christian!) but I find it odd he is a Christian as some of his joke are quite rude (sexual) and some of the way he speak about people is quite rude!

But i do feel that interview was good, he was polite, so was Julie. They agreed on virtually nothing! But still had good debate.

I didn't really get the brain stuff. I was not sure what his position is.

Male and female brains being different. In structure or in function?

speakingwoman · 23/08/2018 12:05

His position is that if gender is a pure social construct then there cannot be such a thing as a Male/female brain. Most of us would agree I think.

Yes to him being prepared. I wonder if he does a sideline in media training?!?

womanformallyknownaswoman · 23/08/2018 12:42

I listened to this as I have his other stuff re TG and enjoyed his critique of their stats and stance - but then I watched the one following which was with Maria Del Russo - OMG - he doesn't believe women are oppressed, that there is a gender pay gap, that the patriarchy exists plus he reckons men get more sexually assaulted (kept referring to male rape in US prisons and as children) and are victimised more than women.

She wasn't much good at defending women using stats (his preferred weapon of choice) nor why women have so much catching up to do - he reckons we've caught up and overtaken men.

He was such a dickhead - and under no circumstance believes that women should be given preferential treatment to make up ground - he hates "feminists" and says he gets rape threats from them every day but he doesn't take any notice - he understands women get more "upset" about them though .....I won't watch him again - zero empathy for women's perspective

Italiangreyhound · 23/08/2018 13:01

Yes, womanformallyknownaswoman he certainly isn't a feminist!

Ereshkigal · 23/08/2018 13:45
