Trans man euthanized

Apologies if anyone has linked to this story before but I found this tragic. A girl born to a mother who only wanted sons. Transitioned but regarded her new body as monstrous.

“She was the girl that nobody wanted. She got that in her head,” Ms. Mesot said. “Maybe she thought, ‘When I’m going to be a man, my mother’s going to love me because she loves my brothers.’ I think that’s the reason why he started all the operations.”

The sadness in their story needs to be listen to acknowledged and learnt from. Why does it seem there will be more tragedies.......

That poor, poor woman. This should be an absolute scandal on the front pages of newspapers.

It's really making me re-think my stance on assisted dying. I'd always thought in terms of the poor person with motor neurone disease, or Huntingdon's, who wanted to know they could escape from their suffering at a time of their choosing - not literally assisting people with mental illness allow that mental illness to kill them, rather than actually treating the mental illness.

Three thoughts on this case.

Nathan Verhelst should not have been 'euthanised'.

Nathan Verhelst should not have been given sex change surgery.

Nathan Verhelst's mother should have been investigated and prosecuted for child cruelty.

This is just awful, just awful. How that woman has been let down, by absolutely everyone involved.
