Twitter poll or survey and a blocked Twitter account

On 19 July there was a thread about a poll or survey on Twitter, to do with a transgender issue. (I don't remember what exactly it was, and I cannot find the thread.)

I also cannot search via Twitter as, within a couple of hours of creating my account, it was blocked. I had done nothing but complete the survey or poll. I had not tweeted anything, nor even looked at anything else.

I cannot now follow any links to see anything on Twitter. I can see less than I could without an account!

So, I'm wondering, is it worth following their link to reactivate it? And, given what it says at the bottom of the screenshot, should I do it from a public computer, rather than any of my own?

I don't see how this could have happened unless their staff are targeting people. Who's actually running Twitter?

IAmInsignificunt · 13/08/2018 20:42

They delete accounts that only take one specific type of action (a single retweet, like, vote) on anything they consider political/constroversial//advertising.

Basically they think you’re an egg account spammer set up to boost a vote.

Twitter have been targeting bots and trolls so it may be they flag up accounts that are opened and immediately complete a poll/survey.

Possibly someone hijacked your new account and started spamming.

Safe to follow their instructions I would have said.

So it might be a 'legit' blocking, rather than a 'TERF' blocking.

But does that mean they also deleted my vote?

IIRC the same thing happened to another poster on that thread.

Was it the Sky News poll OP? The one hijacked by international TRAs? That was 19 July.

PencilsInSpace · 14/08/2018 07:35

This happened when I created my account. I think it's quite common when you first sign up, probably depending on who you follow. If you do the phone verification you can delete your number from settings as soon as you're back in.

Yes, I think it was the Sky poll. What happened to it?

It was about 80% against self ID with about 2k participants until brigaded by US TRAs and their allies overnight bringing it to 51% pro and 49 % against I think.

JellySlice · 14/08/2018 16:21

I wonder how Sky interpreted the results.
