Leo Noakes is a little lad whose alter ego is Violet.

Mum thought he was transitioning, but no, the little lad likes dressing in drag.

Courtney Act is a fan.

High heels, heavy make up, fake tits

Is there anything NOT sexual about that?

lynmilne65 · 08/08/2018 21:34

Quite never wear make up and stilletoes !!

lynmilne65 · 08/08/2018 21:35

Good to hear placemat 😂

ILoveDolly · 08/08/2018 21:40

None of that stuff is appropriate for under 16s. Apart from fun wigs. They're ok. But I'd be horrified if my 12 year old girl wanted to wear a drag type outfit with the heels and slap. It's not age appropriate for boys or girls

AngryAttackKittens · 08/08/2018 21:43

It's definitely not appropriate for a kid to be doing drag on TV, in clubs, etc. Kids playing dress-up in their own homes is fine. Given that the mother's first thought was that the kid wanted to "become" a girl I'm not surprised things are going this way, and I think the main focus here should be how she came to that conclusion rather than just thinking that she had a kid who liked playing dress-up, which is what would have happened 10 years ago.

The whole industry of children on reality TV etc performing in sexualized costumers for the entertainment of adults is grotesque (and I mean the beauty contest kids too, and the ones who do dance).

silentcrow · 08/08/2018 21:51

The child beauty pagent circuit is worth multimillions. Perhaps dragging boys into it as sexualised girls is just another way to "diversify the product", if you'll pardon the expression.

CantankerousCamel · 08/08/2018 22:00

silent

Conchita Wurst is the stage persona of Thomas Neuwith - a gay singer. He is male, identifies as male. Dresses as Conchita Wurst to perform in drag (the clue's in the somewhat humorous name name wurst=sausage)

When his HIV status was revealed all the papers referred to "her" being HIv positive. no, I don't think "Conchita" contacted HIV any more than Lily Savage could. Everyone is so determined to get the pronouns right they actually decide when the person involved has got them wrong. Hmm

AngryAttackKittens · 08/08/2018 22:07

"Misgendering" only seems to be an issue when the person concerned IDs as trans. Trans people are entitled to decide their own gender, and to decide everyone else's too. And then you have a media terrified of the flying monkeys of Twitter swarming them if they get it "wrong" so they err on the side of anyone even slightly GNC being trans.

MissSusanSays · 09/08/2018 07:57

There was a massive row on Twitter last week between a few drag queens and some transactivists.

It seems like drag queens are getting tired of being told how to talk about themselves by whiny gender cult kids.

Aren't we all?

BertrandRussell · 09/08/2018 08:04

The bottom line is that I would object very strongly to an 11 year old girl performing in public in those clothes- so why would I find it acceptable for a boy?

BertrandRussell · 09/08/2018 08:07

And Courtbey Act's message was eminently sensible. "Why can't we just wear what we feel like wearing?"

CantankerousCamel · 09/08/2018 08:11

MissSusan

I didn’t see any argument there just lots of people agreeing

BertrandRussell · 09/08/2018 08:14

Is that the wrong link, Susan?

MissSusanSays · 09/08/2018 08:21

No, sorry. Not so much an argument as a load of drag queens bitching about the trans cult. I follow a few of them and it was pretty funny when they all started- never cross a drag queen.

BertrandRussell · 09/08/2018 08:25
Hmm
MissSusanSays · 09/08/2018 08:30

Sorry to get you all excited with an inaccurate description.

However, if you love drag queens being all sorts of bitchy about trans craziness then Vanity Von Glow is a good read on Twitter.

IJustHadToNameChange · 09/08/2018 10:40

I'm not on Twitter.

Can't get the hang of it at all.

Many (adult) drag queens use extremely foul mouthed humour in their acts.

Taking drag queens on in an argument would require a hide as thick as a rhino's.

As many of the TRAs seem to be very thin skinned.

I can imagine it did not go well.....

There was no argument/debate.

I actually wanted to see how TA’s would conduct themselves against the queens
