Has anyone seen this. Thoughts? I watched for the first time ever last year because of IW who did little to advance their cause. Will Paris be more successful?

Floral 😂

BoreOfWhabylon · 31/07/2018 17:36

Little Lily would have been a rare treat though. Stunning and brave.

LizzieSiddal · 31/07/2018 17:45

From what i have seen/heard of Paris they seem a much nicer person than India. Will be very interesting to watch how it all pans out though.

2rebecca · 31/07/2018 17:47

Was intrigued thinking Paris was helping out TinkyWinky in Cbeebies. Does anyone still watch big brother?

Ekphrasis · 31/07/2018 18:30

Lol floral!

Also, the human ken doll.

This will be an 'interesting' series...

BoreOfWhabylon · 31/07/2018 18:34

Oh dear, the human Ken doll! I feel desperately sorry for that individual.

Ereshkigal · 31/07/2018 18:37

I also thought of Cebeebies before BB Grin

TheFemaleGaze · 31/07/2018 18:39

How about Graham Linehan? 😬

Roseformeplease · 31/07/2018 18:39

I don't watch BB, and have never done so, until CBB last year. IW on there was highlighted on here and some of the arguments were being had in the B.B. house - not all - but Rachel (Boris's sister) and Ann Widdecombe did a reasonable job of being sceptical about IW being a woman.

Hence thinking PL might try to redress the balance.

Unless they were to put someone gender critical in there and it all kicked off, I don't think Paris being trans will come up that much

I don't think Paris would stand for that. Paris has cancelled interviews when Paris found that radfems or Miranda Yardley were also on.

Ekphrasis · 31/07/2018 18:42

How about Graham Linehan?

Yes please!

BettyDuMonde · 31/07/2018 23:09

Ooooh - I never watch B.B. (no telly) but I like Stormy (despite my anti porn position) she kicks stupid man butts all over twitter.

As for Paris, well, P is definitely the best of the bunch and I think P is likely to handle P’s -self well. P hasn’t had a molly coddled upbringing and is more palatable for it.

The BB trans character arch has gotten a bit predictable though - maybe the addition of a GC nemesis would liven things up a bit.
Not Magdalen though - I’d save her withering responses for next year and pit her against ‘shifting constellation’ and Princess of PoMo Shone Faye. Clearly, Madigan would need a foe that is both elder and better, so Greer or Bellos... so for Paris I reckon...

PeachYogurt

Or alternative they could liven up the trans storyline with 2 at a time - would they end up best friends of would it all get a bit Game of Trans? If Channel 5 fancies this option I’d imagine Paris Lees v Jane Fae could be rather interesting...

leyat · 31/07/2018 23:15

Paris Lees is a raging misogynist, so there's that. And no-one will want to challenge them at all, cos trans. Paris will definitely have the govts GRA consultation in mind as well. So yup, unless you want a misogynist who will remain utterly unchallenged having an ever larger platform than they have already to promote that, then it's certainly no good thing...but CBB is rubbish anyway...

Dragoncake · 31/07/2018 23:22

Jenni Murray would be great in there.

PL is a huge misogynist as far as I can tell. That stuff about enjoying sexual harassment was awful.

MozzieMagnet · 31/07/2018 23:24

It's a shame Germaine Greer has already been on the show. Her arriving as a late addition would have made cracking TV.
I admire how Paris Lees has survived what I imagine to have been a challenging adolescence in Newark but, even if writing to provoke controversy, some of her comments regarding sex have been problematic (Aware it is up to her what she gets off on but women are not just holes to be fucked).
I would have preferred her on Strictly though Glitterball

MozzieMagnet · 31/07/2018 23:45

Hucknall not Newark

DickTERFin · 01/08/2018 00:01

I do hope the Chuckle Brothers come out as non-binary...

"To ze, to ze. To zu, to zu".

FloralBunting · 01/08/2018 00:14

DickTERFin, I hand my MN crown to you - I'm seriously off my game today for missing that one...

leyat · 01/08/2018 00:14

Paris doesn't care abt the safety of women at all, says men in women's spaces is a non issue, and that the only real issue in this debate re safety is the safety of trans people. And lots of people have had hard lives, most of us don't go on to try to erase a whole class of oppressed people just to feel good about ourselves though....

AngryAttackKittens · 01/08/2018 00:17

I don't like Paris much but they can't possibly come across worse than India did.

FloralBunting · 01/08/2018 00:28

I don't like Paris at all. They have modelled themselves on the most unpleasant of the 'cool girls' at school, and I find that despite to doe-eyed (shop bought) prettiness, the chip on their shoulder skews everything that comes out of their mouth.

However, Paris is a skilled media player, and I have no doubt will be wheeling out fake suicide stats at a pace so unrelenting that even the most incisive of BB editors will be unable to cut them all out.

And, while we're here, can I just point out the delicious irony of a prominent TRA, part of a movement steeped in Orwellian thought crime methodology, going into an environment modelled on the dystopia Orwell created?

thebewilderness · 01/08/2018 00:42

That struck me, also.

AngryAttackKittens · 01/08/2018 00:43

One thing I haven't seen Paris show is much of a sense of humor, and they melt down quite quickly when challenged, so it will be interesting to see how they handle conflict. I wonder if Paris will learn from India's mistake and go easy on the public propositioning of attractive castmates, or at least demonstrate a bit of reasonableness if turned down rather than throwing a public tantrum. I suspect that having grown up as a gay boy will have prepped Paris to handle rejection rather better than India did.

BettyDuMonde · 01/08/2018 00:44

Curious to see how Stormy reacts to Paris...

Isn't the moniker "Brothers" transphobic or summat?Assuming the gender of both the individuals concerned
