With Man Friday's wonderful Hannah Clarke quoted:

You utter donkeys @cityoflondon Your survey has completely cocked up sex & gender. If EVEN I can see this, YOU are royally screwed. (a cat with no legs is not a slug. Just as a man with no penis is not a woman). Thank you.*

Says...Katie Hopkins on Twitter. Could this day get any more surreal?

FruitOnAPlatter · 29/07/2018 18:55

No defence, but 'no real trans' has already appeared.

Gilligan will not be intimidated when it comes to a story. He did a lot of good work with regards to Lutfur Rahman's regime in Tower Hamlets so I can't see the likes of Pink News stopping him.

enoughisenough12 · 29/07/2018 19:15

Good to see ITV London news covering this with Hannah Clarke being interviewed. Makes a change to hear a feminist's voice being heard instead of the usual misogynists.

UpstartCrow · 29/07/2018 19:15

I'm not sure facts have 'sides' that you can take.

(Although it is a fact that I'll never be able to watch Ben 10 again.)

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 29/07/2018 19:30

We are asking that respondents affirm that they do accept that trans people exist and that they should be entitled to be recognised in their gender.

Meaning they want people, women particularly, to ignore sex.

LemonJello · 29/07/2018 19:51

Looks like Katie Hopkins is GC. Made my day. I know I am on the right side, because I oppose everything she stands for.

Oh I dare say that’s true. But I’d be careful linking your own views to anyone else’s. What if she’s said she was against paedophilia? Your current stance would make you...not.

Best to think for yourself, as the gender critical feminists do Wink

Anlaf · 29/07/2018 20:16

Tut tut: Edward Lord has deleted his tweet quoted upthread. Good job there is a screenshot here.

SwearyG · 29/07/2018 20:24

The screenshot existing is his own fault. Had he not blocked me I wouldn’t have screenshotted it to refer to when I write up the last few days, because I would have referred back to the twitter thread. Maybe being so trigger happy with the block button when I objected to #GetTheLOut being called the T word was foolhardy.

UpstartCrow · 29/07/2018 20:36

Is any of that in line with the Nolan principles? Either the biased 'consultation' that excludes an impact assessment, or the tweet?
I dont think it is.

Bowlofbabelfish · 29/07/2018 20:36

Wait - is he saying that anyone answering anything other than absolutely yes to that will have the rest of their answers discounted?

That is outrageous

Procrastinator1 · 29/07/2018 20:39

That EL deleted tweet should be sent to the Lord Mayor and every alderman and head of the livery companies, whoever they may be. He really is making the City of London look idiotic.

thebewilderness · 29/07/2018 20:40

City of London is in violation of the Equality Act and need to be investigated.
People who prefer the rules of misogyny to the rule of law need to GTFO of leadership positions in private and public service entirely.

SwearyG · 29/07/2018 20:41

That’s how it reads isn’t it Bowl - I will be clarifying tomorrow (though expect the Corporation are about to stop taking my calls).

I’m seeing failure on many of the Nolan Principles. I’m not sure the Corporation cares though. Very annoying.

Anlaf · 29/07/2018 20:50

I hadn't realised that Edward had been dropping the T-word, Swearyg, but some detective work typing the words into the search box led me to a blogpost where he calls the GetTheLOut protesters:

T*s
Hateful
Unpleasant, and
Man-hating

I'm pretty sure that calling lesbians "man haters" was bog standard 80s homophobia+misogyny

edwardlord.org/2018/07/10/in-defence-of-prideinlondon-organisers-hateful-terfs-put-them-in-an-impossible-position-and-the-metpoliceuk-were-powerless-to-help/

Has this been posted already?

Needmoresleep · 29/07/2018 21:05

Who wrote that City of London survey? I bet it was not a boring middle aged woman like me who struggles even with shop communal changing rooms let alone those in public swimming pools.

Perhaps I should not worry. I may be overweight, but this survey help to confirm that I am invisible.

arranfan · 29/07/2018 21:06

Is any of that in line with the Nolan principles?

Nolan has been on my mind a lot today.

Anlaf · 29/07/2018 21:08

It's useful to have MsMc.

Btw I am going to self correct - Edward Lord calls the message of the eight "individuals" aka lesbians "man hating", which is differentbutnotdifferent to calling the lesbians man hating.

NotMeOhNo · 29/07/2018 21:38

My god, the hide of the man. I can't believe he admitted publicly that the consultation is a farce.

arranfan · 29/07/2018 21:42

I can't believe he admitted publicly that the consultation is a farce.

Factchecking organisations frequently complain that surveys are meaningless, biased, are not run by accredited bodies that comply with standards etc. yet the people who run these surveys/consultations don't care because they'll get publicity anyway.

LongTermPerm · 01/08/2018 11:14

Those of you who have responded to the consultation, how did you get around the fact that every question is based on the premise that:

a) you accept everyone has a gender identity
b) this is assigned at birth
c) public spaces are segregated on the basis of gender, not sex?

I found it impossible to choose a relevant tick box for any answer, and had to begin every text box response with 'Assuming you mean sex not gender...'

Presume my responses will be ignored?

SwearyG · 01/08/2018 11:48

Edward Lord said they would be in his now deleted tweet, LongTermPerm

I have submitted a freedom of information request on how the responses will be considered and weighted. I wonder what they'll say to me.
