Ffs my hand looks like that of the archetypal "married man who is sneakily out on the pull, with wife and kids at home"!! Hmm

WIBU to colour it in with bronzer?

Thanks It took me ages to work out what you meant. Not the quickest Grin

That must be really weird after wearing a ring for so long.

Could you buy yourself a "freedom" ring for yourself or something and wear it to distract from it? (Using a much thinner band to help you tan in that area?)

ErrolTheDragon · 18/07/2018 22:50

I had one of those a few years ago... but just because my finger swelled a bit in heat and then the ring dug in when I was gripping things hard (water sports). Once I'd managed to get the dratted thing off no way was it going on again. Oddly enough, no one seems to have noticed let alone commented. Not even DH! (Well, he might have noticed but he never had a ring and didn't see it as a mark of 'ownership' or anything more than tradition). It's just a bit of metal.

What matters is how you feel about it though. Does it bother you?

Melamin · 18/07/2018 23:00

I have taken all my rings off in the heat and the marks haven't gone away over several days.

A Freedom Ring sounds fun.

Ereshkigal · 18/07/2018 23:04

Freedom ring is a great idea BeyondThanks

betrayedandwobbly · 18/07/2018 23:08

It took months (maybe even years) for the skin that had been under rings to completely recover from indentation and etioloation (rings taken off one November)

rememberatime · 18/07/2018 23:09

What is a freedom ring and where does one buy one?

Is it just any old ring you wear instead of your wedding ring?

Ereshkigal · 18/07/2018 23:09

How about a ring you really like and you choose yourself?

Presumably a freedom ring can be whatever you want - you are free to decide Smile

BeyondRadicalisationPortal · 19/07/2018 07:48

Not having it on doesn't bother me, it's the tan line (and the fact that my finger is a different shape and the skin is weird) that's bothering me. I have ordered a ring to take its place already - it will be called a freedom ring from now on Grin

I literally haven't taken it off for longer than ten minutes since the ceremony! My engagement ring has been off for ages as it gave me eczema - should have viewed that as a sign...

My finger looks like trees do when they don't cut the ties off that staked them. I would put bronzer or something on it if it is dazzling you in the sun Smile

BettyDuMonde · 19/07/2018 09:53

Please get a tiered cake and smash it up with a shovel?

I always wanted to but have never bothered to get divorced until engaged to someone else (twice). At that point it becomes a bad omen rather than a symbol of freedom.

8FencingWire · 19/07/2018 09:59

I just had a look at mine:after 2 and a half years the indentation is gone.
I’ve got Monica Vinader stacking rings on, they’re fun :)

BeyondRadicalisationPortal · 19/07/2018 10:38

Ah we didn't have a tiered cake at the wedding, so that might be a bit much. Grin though by the time all the wait and faff of a divorce is sorted, I might have changed my mind!

Atm - making it a bit weird - he is still here (and not too high on the housing list so may be for a while...). Luckily it is pretty amicable.

Take care ... Flowers

Mogleflop · 19/07/2018 14:56

Oh yes - a "freedom" ring isn't a real thing, it was just my way of saying any one you'd like - just one which would be enjoyable, remind you of something just for you, and help stop the feeling of something being missing.

(Come to think of it, the ring industry is missing something in its advertising department there!)

I hope yours is nice beyond Smile
