I'm just reading this document from Gendered Intelligence.

JFC it's a celebration of stereotypes from start to finish. Stereotypes that are causing young people to start on a life of medication, surgery and sterility.

How can this madness have got such a hold?

It includes gems like this under the heading 'Passing':

"As a trans woman with a more masculine appearance, you may need to compensate with other “elements” that convey that you are female. The “feminine walk” may help. If you place each foot across yourself each time you take a step this creates the “bum swish”." This is endorsed by the NHS!

If I was of the more easily lead persuasion I’d be becoming more and more convinced that I’m actually a man. Funny though, because despite all the abuse I’ve had for not being feminine enough, I’ve never been challenged when entering the female toilets. You’d almost think there was something inherent about my body that people recognise as female…

HotRocker · 16/07/2018 11:21

In fact yeah, there must be, otherwise I wouldn’t get abuse for not being feminine enough. Strange that, how people recognise your body type, then try to dictate how you should act and present based on that. Maybe if nobody did that we’d all be better off?

That leaflet was written by young trans people in 2007. It's not even still available in hard copy (Luckily!)
