Interview on itv news, she was specifically asked how she felt about sharing space/changing rooms with men who identify as women.

When pushed she said she didn't have a problem but she was well aware that others would not be comfortable with this, and that is why full consultation is so important.

I might need a sit down.

No other woman in England has the security Teresa May has, well maybe the Royal family have similar protection.

IAmLurkacus · 03/07/2018 23:12

I saw that. The guy interviewing her was good. He was pushing the ‘Man’ who has identified as a woman in the changing room point as opposed to ‘transwoman’.

Floorplan · 03/07/2018 23:13

Oh yeah she'd have no probs in the local swimming pool when the local trans woman got out his dick in front of her grand nieces.

NameChangedAgain18 · 03/07/2018 23:15

Well, if she does have a problem with showering next to men at the gym (as I supect 90% of women would), she is hardly going to say so publicly.

Itscurtainsforyou · 03/07/2018 23:16

I think for me it's the fact that she's acknowledged that people have legitimate concerns that need to be heard and addressed rather than bring in self-id as a given as it appears the Labour Party have/are doing.

My daughter was the victim of indecent exposure. The case was taken to court as 9 other girls her age came forward.(She was year 8). He was caught because she had the wherewithal to remember his licence plate. Whats the point? What's the difference? I'm starting a thread.

AnOpinion · 03/07/2018 23:19

There was a poll today showing that only 18% of voters are behind changing the GRA.

Labour have had a MP speak in parliament today to respect GC feminists and Unite's Len has signed a letter asking for respectable debate with GC feminists too.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/07/2018 23:21

she said she didn't have a problem but she was well aware that others would not be comfortable with this, and that is why full consultation is so important.

Good. It's actually completely irrelevant whether she, or any other individual woman doesn't have a problem - what matters is acknowledging that for some women it's important and that their concerns must be heard and addressed.

Itscurtainsforyou · 03/07/2018 23:21

That's good @AnOpinion - I would like to see that. Unfortunately labour's action on this to date caused me to leave the party, so I would be delighted to see a proper reasoned debate regardless of party politics.

AngryAttackKittens · 03/07/2018 23:23

Good. The fact that some individual women don't care is irrelevant, what matters is what the majority are comfortable with. Even if the majority were OK with it, if a significant minority were not that too would need to be taken into consideration.

Itscurtainsforyou · 03/07/2018 23:24

Yes - Errol. She was asked how she would feel (twice I think, or I may have misremembered) and on the second ask she gave the answer that wasn't going to immediately enrage people (that she didn't have a problem).

I'm not sure if I believe that answer, but I'm pleased she's stressed the need for discussion/debate/consultation.

I wouldn’t be happy with it, no one I know would be and I can’t be in the minority - it’s clearly just not fashionable to say so.

I have a problem with it so no I do not agree with teresa may.

heresyandwitchcraft · 03/07/2018 23:41

I read Teresa's statement as being the closest she could get to saying: "Actually I would have a problem with it"

They oughta get every MP to watch this video from Denmark and ask them what they would do if the person in the video wanted to share the female facilities with their mother/daughter/sister/etc:

Under self-ID, how do you object?
GenderApostate · 04/07/2018 08:19

The mobilisation of Women brave enough to speak out has had this effect. We will not be silenced.
A massive Thank you to all - we would never have got this far without the collective might of FWR / WNTT / WPUK / FPFW / Sex Matters / Transgender Trend / Man Friday and individual Women too numerous to mention.

UpstartCrow · 04/07/2018 08:43

I have a problem with MP's being this unaware of how their policies affect people outside of Westminster.
This govt has been the most divisive and destructive since the thatcher years.
